Do kids in horror movies annoy you?

They really get on my nerves!! Especially when they are the smart kids that don't get scared.(Kid in Jurassic Park 3) It's not the actors that are bad but the characters are WAY to brave for the situations they are in.(Reggie in Friday 5) In all the horror movies I have seen there have only ever been 3 kids that did not annoy me and I liked them.

They are(or were):

-Jamie Lloyd(Danielle Harris) in HALOWEEN 4 & 5(She's my favorite child actor)

-Andy Barclay(Alex Vincent) in CHILD'S PLAY 1 & 2

-Carol Ann(Heather O'Rourke) in POLTERGEIST TRILOGY

Kids!

oh I hate them when they are the main or secondary character.

But I Love them so much when they play the spooks.

I also appreciate puppets, dolls and clowns...

those are realy disturbing http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Danny from The Shining didnt annoy me http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif. Also Alex Vincent in Childs play wasnt too annoying either. Though on a whole most childs actors are damned annoying.

Personally I can't stand stainy little smart-mouthed kids in genre films, but I don't think Andy Barclay (Child's Play) fits this category. He was genuinely scared, and Alex Vincent played the part very well.

***** MILD SPOILER COMING UP *****

The two little brats in the first Jurassic Park movie had me screaming at the T-Rex on the screen "Eat the kids! Pleeeeaase!!" Especially the older girl who was a supposed computer expert, and saves the day by tracking a mouse through an Atari-designed screensaver. Give me a break.

And the smart-ass little boy in Dolly Dearest...a perfect example of why some kids just shouldn't be in horror films.

Lol Feyd, didnt that same older girl distract a few Raptors with her gymnastics ability somewhere in that movie? Thats gotta be the stupidest thing ever, And I forgot all about Andy Barclay! Shame on me..

Most of the "kids" in horror movies have not been annoying, and their presence provides the audience with more of a rooting value, whereas older "teen" characters have proven to be more annoying, thus expendable. Case in point: in HALLOWEEN 5, which character were you hoping would make it to the closing credits: Jamie or Tina?

Demonic Toys, which was foul, had a pretty rank child actor in it - the evil one, who said "Now we're going to do the nasty!" Rank!

I think that it just depends on what type of role they are playing. If you want to see annoying though, check out Stephen King's Cujo, the kid never stops screaming!!!

Kids in movies (not just horror) do generally get on my nerves but, good as Nicole Kidman was, I have to say I thought the kids in The Others were fantastic and gave the best performances in the film.

Annoying Kids in horror cinema?

Haley Joel Osment from 6th Sense.

I wanted to strangle him by his second line.

Reggie the Reckless from F13-5 ruled! And can you imagine the fourth and fifth installments of HALLOWEEN w/o Danielle Harris? Or CHILD'S PLAY w/o Andy? POLTERGEIST w/o little Heather?

I find most of the children in horror films to be utterly annoying. They fray my nerves for reasons unknown. Not all of them annoy me, though. Heather O'Rourke, Danielle Harris, and Matthew Hurley (Pumpkinhead), just to name a few, are easily tolerable for me. I'm not sure where my low patience level for children stems from. Perhaps the Olson twins ruined my perception of youth. Who knows?

Don't forget The Exorcist! Without that kid we couldn't even have a movie!

I agree with you. I could barely sit through Big Daddy OR Star Wars: Episode 1 because of Cole & Dylan Sprouse and Jake Lloyd.

But for horror movies, I agree with the examples everyone said: Danielle Harris, Heather O'Rourke and Alex Vincent. But Danny Lloyd in The Shining (1980) and Courtlead Mead in The Shining (1997) both annoyed the hell out of me. Oh, and also Blaze Berdahl in Pet Sematary...but I did like Miko Hughes in the same movie. Damn he was freaky!

If child actors are used sparingly and if they're any good than they can help a movie (The Others, Child's Play 1&2, Halloween 4&5, Poltergeist Trilogy, Miko in Pet Sematary) rather than hinder it (The Sixth Sense, F13 Part 5, Jurassic Park Trilogy).

To be fair about Reggie I thought he was OK up until he drove out of the barn on that freakin tractor. Come on kid your being chased by a machette weilding maniac. BE SCARED!!! No kid would be able to think that clearly in a situation like that. It's one of the reasons I like Andy and Jamie, for the most part all they did was run away from the killers and hide. They acted like REAL kids not smart snot nosed little brats.

LOL, michael meyers 666, I really hate Haley Joel Osment

Damn I forgot all about Danielle Harris too! She was great in Halloween and 5 and yes Antonio I totally wanted her to survive and see Tina die.

Haley Joel osment is beyond annoying for me..

Everyone but Cyclonus failed to mention Newt from Aliens. I thought she was awesome and her character made a valuable contribution to the story. Her and Heather from Poltergeist are adorable. I don't think I'm really annoyed by kids in horror movies. BUT, Horror/GoreFanatic brought up the kid from Cujo, that kid DID kind of get on my nerves. When he's in the car and keeps saying over and over I wanna go home I wanna go home and wailing that did get irritating.
