Has anyone seen this? If not, well, I guess you probably shouldn't bother, though if you'd like to, cinemanow.com has it for free. I think this movie could have had real potential, if not for the crap acting and intensely contrived dialogue. The unnamable creature is actually pretty cool looking (In Video Trash and Treasures it's described as a "albino hermaphrodite satyr that minces around on goat legs" Heh.) and is played by porn star Julie Strain! Woohoo!

I know i know!! And it's the only other movie that the director has made. Poor guy.

Actually, he made one other film in 1990 called "Chinatown Connection" which I've never been able to find, so it must be pretty dire.

What breaks my heart most about "The Unnamable" films is that they're based on a classic H.P. Lovecraft story. Lovecraft is one of my personal heroes. You think with material like that, they'd have done a better job...

I have to admit it's been a long time since I saw THE UNAMABLE but I remeber it as a cool movie. Would love to see it again. I liked how they kept the creature in the shadow, the house was spooky and the gore was nice from what I remember.

The sequel isn't bad too. As far from Lovecraft as can be but still, I liked it. 6/10

The Unnamable (The Lame) another one of those movies that sucker Lovecraft fans in with the 'Based on ......' this movie sucked such major ass. The acting was terrible, the action was slow, there was no suspense. The only defense I can offer the director is the story was one of Lovecraft's shorter ones, I believe it's something like four pages.

Gretchen, Julie Strain played the creature in the only slightly better The Unnameable II:The Statement of Randolf Carter (The only reason I could tolerate this one was a naked Maria Ford and knowing Julie Strain was the creature)

The director has no defense for this abomination, he butchered an already short story added to it, and then butchered another Lovecraft work, The Statement of Randolph Carter which had nothing to do with The Unnamable AHHHHHHH!

I really wish directors would let Mr. Lovecraft rest in peace if they are not going to do justice to his work.

The gore in this film was so/so - heart gets ripped out, head gets torn off, etc. Nothing too bloody, unfortunately - some good gore may have helped this movie a little bit.

I'm a huge Lovecraft fan. I just finished reading Shadows overs Innsmouth...Has anyone heard of Basil Copper?

Gretchen, if you like the works of Lovecraft and Copper, look for stories by August Derleth. He was one of Lovecraft's closest friends, and a great horror author in his own right.

Not a lot of his stuff has been anthologised like Lovecraft, but you can find his stories in horror short story compilation books. Look out for him.
