Does anybody think that the protests surrounding Basic Instinct were nessnary? I think that GLAAD just needed something to bitch about. What do you think?

They were wasting their time! In fact all the hype they generated just gave the studio free publicity! Besides, most moviegoers probably weren't watching it in a very PC frame of mind. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

Probably not. Besides, that movie was actually pretty tame and I don't remember why GLADD was upset.

GLAAD was pissed of since the portrayals of lesbians in BASIC INSTINCT were all negative (conniving, murderous, venal & evil). Of course GLAAD didn't note that the breeders in the movie weren't any more positive...

GLAAD and other anti-First Amendment groups should realize that their protests generate publicity, which is an added attraction for moviegoers!
