Evil Dead Sequels. Good or bad?

I just have a question for everyone. Is there anyone out there who doesn't like the fact that the Evil Dead sequels have turned into comedies? I don't think they are bad movies by any stretch, and they are somewhat amusing, but after seeing the first Evil Dead movie, I was kind of hoping that the sequels would be more of the same: dark, scary, and atmospheric. I just wanted to ask this question because everyone in the world seems to love them except me! Once again, don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the two sequels, I just wanted something a little more serious. Is there anyone out there who agrees with me!!!!???? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Don't get me wrong i love all three of the evil dead movies but I'm not too thrilled either by the slapstick comedy in evil dead II or army of darkness. The first one was perfect and scary, the second was scary and funny but the third one was just funny and it kinds turned me off too.Oh well

I agree, Pumpkinhead. The sequels didn't tickle my pickle that much. I feel they're slightly overrated. I'm not opposed to mixing genres, but I just didn't care for the "Three Stooges" vibe in ED2 and Army of Darkness.

i prefed evil dead 2 to 1. but i didnt like armys of darkness 2 much tho i think i saw a cut version and it was a while ago now.

Thank god, I thought everybody liked Evil Dead 2 except for me

Like you I wanted to see it get more intense, instead it got lighter, a bit of a disappointment.

I did love Army of Darkness though. In my mind, that film knew what it wanted to be, a comedy. The thing that bothers me about Evil Dead 2 is that it seems confused. It should have gone one way or another

so basically I like the original, and Army of Darkness, because they are polar opposites. Evil Dead 2 just couldn't decide what it wanted to be.
