Okay, I know there's already a couple topics about this on the horror boards, but I felt like I should share it here.

To see what all the fuss was about, I saw the supposed "classic" Texas Chainsaw Massacre a couple weeks ago. I loved it. It was NOWHERE near as gory or bloody as some people think it is. (Hell, there's hardly any blood in it at all. Don't get me wrong, there's some pretty gruesome deaths, but they don't show a lot. Most of it is left up to your imagination)

Now every teeny bopper's favorite director, Michael Bay, is going to helm a remake of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

I can just see the trailer for this movie now:

Quick, fast MTV-style cuts, with Leatherface jumping out of an explosion, an Limp Bizkit music playing in the background.

The fact that they're reducing it to a soundtrack-selling, teeny slasher is one thing, and that's bad enough, but Michael Bay mentioned that he is going to tone down some of the violence and gore. Meaning, he's likely going to make it PG-13 so all boys and 14-year old girls who dress up like hookers will be able to flock to it.

This is bad news folks. Just when you think the horror industry was getting slightly better with the release of Jeepers Creepers, along comes this awful bit of news.

while i disagree with a remake of tcm i don't think it will be as bad as you made it out to be. i doubt it will have a teen cast i think the spirit of the original will still be alive. about toning down the violence that should be expected ultraviolent horror movies just cannot exist in this dat and age anymore just look at what rob zombie is going through right now. do i agree that they should tone down the violence? no i dont think they should but it's expected. also michael bay will not be directing the film his production company is producing the film,a director has yet to be named.

Michael Bay is not directing it, just his production company is going to produce it. Michael Bay is going to be involved very little, if any. He is going to be busy directing Bad Boys 2.

Plus Michael Bay is no teeny bopper director, he is a great visual director that can create very intense action sequences. He just needs to stop messing with love stories and do what he does best. Most people say they did not like Pearl Harbor because of the love story, but if you like Pearl Harbor or not there is no denying that it had some of the best action sequences out there and the visuals were breathtaking. I for one would like to see him make a horror movie, I think he could do a good.
