"With shooting on "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" set to begin in exactly one month, the announcement regarding who will win the new John Connor role is expected anyday now, thus ending a long and exhaustive search for a replacement to Edward Furlong, who was dropped from role due to his trouble with the law off-screen.
Anderson Jones at E! Online (http://www.eonline.com) is reporting that Shane West ("A Walk to Remember") is one of the frontrunners to play John Connor in T3.
Whoever wins the role will join Arnold Schwarzenegger as he reprises his role as the T-800, and Kristanna Loken, who beat out dozens of top actresses to win the role of the female villain, the Terminatrix (or T-X). "Terminator 3" will be helmed by Jonathan Mostow. Shooting begins April 15th."
I can't believe this! if they pick him it'll suck huge one! really! He doesn't look like Eddie! (they have to pick someone who looks like the previous actor right?)
Why da fuck did that DICKWAD Edward Furlong even had to have trouble with law! Otherwise he'd be in T3 already!
I reLLY THINK they should look a little bit more Month to go but I donno! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif after this I started to feel bad for the movie. ARRRGGHHRRR~!!!!! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

Sorry- But you guys are all WRONG! I'm gonna say a word here, and I want you to look at this word very, very carefully. Okay? The word is this: "ACTOR." Shane West is an actor. That means he pretends to be differnet people in different movies. I've seen him in "Get Over It" where he PLAYED a jerk, the movie's villain. And he did it well. Then in "Walk to Remember" he plays the bad, wild boy that turns good at the end. Again, he did it well. (The same can be said for Mandy Moore. In "Princess Diaries" she plays the stuck up cheerleader, but then in "Walk" she plays the nerdy, nice girl. She did both well. Again, an actor goes from playing one part to the next.) I remember years and years ago when "movie lovers" where all freaked out when they heard that Micheal Keaton was gonna play Batman. They were ranting and raving in the comic books stores and at the sci-fi conventions asking how in the whole wide world a "comic actor" could play the grim, dark, somber, kick-ass Capped Crusader, The Dark Knight? But- You know what? -he did a great job and now people, those same darned people, talk as if Keaton is the only person in the UNIVERSE that should ever be trusted with the role again. JoBlo, I luv yah man! I come to your site maybe 5 times a day, every day for the past 2-years. This is the coolest place on the net. But dude, you're just plain wrong on this one. Besides, maybe the dude had an off day. You try making a movie -which, as I understand, is friggen hard work, then some dude comes along to interview you and see how ultra-cool you come off? Again, JoBlo, you're AWESOME. But, I think you're making a bad call here. And, I think you need to give old Shane a better chance. Nuff said.

Oh my god...visions of WHATEVER IT TAKES and A WALK TO REMEMBER are floating through my head...please, make it stop! Don't pick West as Connor! Bea Arthur would be a better choice! He has not the chops nor the right demeanor for the job!

I think you guys are over-acting.The movie hasnt even started shooting an your already bashing his performance.I can see it know, by the time the movie comes out, you all will probably be appluding his performance and have forgoten about your hate of this casting choice.
I'm not really sure of his acting capabilities, cause i've never seen him perform, but what I can say is that make-up is a virtue, and if you give this guy a shaved head or something, and a scar running down his face (present on the older John Conner) with rather pale features, then it could work......Mind you, i'd like to see his acting in something before I discuss this casting any further.

Yeah, but wouldn't a guy in war look older anyways? Also, he can look younger with the right makeup. His performance would be amazing I'm sure and at least he hasn't been in teenie-bopper movies. BTW, you meant "overreacting" when you said "overacting" right?

It's sure a shame Furlong won't get to play the part... continuity in actors over multiple decades is always great to see.
I don't know anything about this guy and haven't seen any of his movies. But then again, I didn't know anything about Eddie Furlong and hadn't seen any of his movies when T2 came out, so you never know. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

you didn't see eddie before T2 b/c he was picked out of pasadena, CA to play his role. They wanted him, b/c he was perfect for the part, so he had to take acting and motor-bike lessons before shooting.
But i don't know about shane west. I would at least like to see other choices first.

I am sure that they want to )they arent entirely stupid), but I dont think that they want to shell out another 20 million for an extra A-list actor (in terms of salary).

Id love to see it too. The thing is that his appearance has changed over the past decade. Hes gotten so coked up that its starting to show:

I was thinking that if they were thinking about someone like Shane West, perhaps they want a more clean cut character. Edward Norton sounds great (hes great for almost any role), but like I said before, he costs more than they are probably willing to shell out. I guess itll be interesting to see how things turn out..
I have low expectations for this movie for three reasons:
James Cameron is totally off the project. It took big, big bucks to get Arnold back (the last time he got paid this much was for Batman and Robin -- we all know how that turned out). The question of whether a second sequel is incredibly valid.
Put simply, Im hoping that this doesnt become another Jurassic Park III.

You are all forgetting that Connor will be horribly mutilated when Obi Wan throws him into the lava pit so it will not matter who plays him!
Oh am I confused maybe.
Yes I think that this sequel could such seriously especially if they expect me to believe Arny is still a young stud Terminator.
And it would have been better to use the original actor it would be like having Stallone take Arnys role, stupid!
We shall see.
Out........................

Check out his performance on ABC's Once And Again, he is really good.

I think that's the point http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
And as for him being on Once and Again, I'll admit, he's pretty good in it. But it's a much different role than in T3 and I worry about his range as an actor.

You know what, this is a great choice. Norton would be perfect for this role. And BTW, Shane West will suck ass in the movie. That is if he gets the part, of course. Anyway.....

I agree. I really hope West gets the part because he is a good actor. Shit, come on guys give him chance. And no, Edward Norton is NOT the right actor for this part. No way in hell.
hilarious.... you kids... I tell ya...
anyway, Shane West can actually act, yes, so where's the issue here? Furlong definitely couldn't. He was adequate when the flick first came out, but have you seen it again recently? Dude's not an actor, even remotely, & it shows like Richard Simmons feminine side...
& the reasons why Edward Norton can't be in it have already been examined... so uh, yeah, relax & give Shane a chance.
