Now I know im gonna get into some shit here but would Amityville horror(the movies)be better if it wasnt based on a supposedly real incident? Think about...it wouldnt have to take so much time for some real shit to go on! Well my opinion...it could be a true story, but only use the house, and a different family, not so much boring scenes, and keep the music score, and replace the violin counterpart music, and make the ending more exciting! two more things to leave out: FLIES!!!! PRIESTS!!!!

Anyone half agree?

Whether or not it's a true story isn't really an issue anymore. At this point, I think the family admitted it was a hoax. The fact remains that the movie was long and boring.

True...the movie was boring having recently been viewed...but if it wasnt true, they wouldnt have to make it so long, and count by numerous days to get to the point... And get a better actor for George, and stick closer to scares...

The Amityville Horror is a great movie and no asshole better remake it because im sick of remakes and there was nothing wrong with anyones acting and keep the fleximin guy as George, he did a good job and besides he looked like the first dumbass who actually killed his family in the first damn place. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
I just do not get this crap where people want to change things and remake them, Hell if you remake this there will be stupid cgi horseshit running around and a damn rock n roll frigging soundtrack throughout and some dumb actor dipshits like Matthew Lilliard screaming like a bitch, hence it will suck. Leave it the hell alone and make a another haunted house crap movie to satisfy those who think Amityville Horror sucks ok? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
Oh and another thing people Long and Boring? I guess you guys like this botched up quick crap right? It was not long and boring it is called building a plot, long and boring is freaking Ghandi ok??? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I agree with Parilese, I find nothing boring about the movie. They built up the atmosphere and introduced the Lutz's so we got to know them. They slowly change and become more irritable as the house engulfs them. I wouldn't change a thing about the movie. The scene were the priest blesses the house and the flies come is quality programming. I would keep all of it in.

It's not a bad horror film as such, but the Amityville series never scared me. The main reason is, I could never figure out why this family didn't just MOVE OUT. If that had been me, the minute the toilets started flushing black fluid, the walls started dripping blood and a disembodied voice said "Geeeeeet Oooouuuuttt!!!!" I would have been out of there and down the road so fast I'd have crossed two state lines inside of a minute.

True, the events of the first film have been revealed as a set-up by the parents to write a best-selling book and get out of debt, but George Lutz has always maintained that he was successful in his business. If what he says is true, he could easily have afforded some other accommodation for his family.
