Hi I recently got done reading Black House and loved it but what I really wanted to talk about was that despite the fact it was co-authored it really felt like a Stephen King novel. I mean my goodness I knew all King books are connected in one way or another (every single King book has at least one refernece of another books events), but this book had Dark Tower references up the wazoo. It mentioned gunslingers, Roland's land, Roland's gunsligers and even the events of hearts of Atlantis. Towards the end of the book Braughtigan is mentioned as the head breaker who is the main chcracter in HA. Despite Strubs contribution this is definitely a King book and definitely part of the Dark Tower series.

What do you guys think.

P.S. My favorite King cross-refernce is in Dreamcatcher where on the monument the losers club erected in Derry it says PENNYWISE LIVES showing that Pennywise will never die. Reading Black House you will learn Pennywise is a Crimson King minion.

Zing!

Technically, no, Black House is not an official entry in the Dark Tower series. However, King himself has said "...it's as close as you're going to get to a Dark Tower book for awhile..." This book and Hearts In Atlantis aren't the only books to reference the Dark Tower storyline; I can think of two others off the top of my head: Rose Madder and Insomnia - although I'm sure there's more.

Oh I know Black Tower isnt technichally part of the Dark Tower series but I think any Dark Tower fan needs to read it.

By the way any Stephen King fan needs to read The Stephen King Universe. It gives great insight into his books.

BLACK HOUSE is the sequel to Stephen King's and Peter Straub's first collaboration novel, THE TALISMAN.
