No, it was a brief theatrical release during 1987, because my brother Casey saw it during a double date and quoted the carry-over line of dialogue from Part One: "Its not who you go with honey, its who takes you home!"...

Yes, it was released theatrically in 1987 but only fared so-so at the box office. It did very well on video, and thus spawned parts 3 and 4.
