alright here's the deal. She says she hates films like Friday the 13th and NOES because they're stupid, and they don't scare her. So I refrain from killing her and try to explain to her that there is much more to the horror genre than those films.

She says she likes unexplained phenomena, sort of like the "Mothman"(which she liked). She also liked "The Others" because it was freaky

Basically, she needs a huge wakeup call (besides my foot in her ass) So what would you recommend I show this non believer? I need a ghost or unexplained phenomena flick that will chill her down to the bone.

Please help me guys...

Hey, Mojo. The original The Haunting will knock her socks off. The remake's not bad either, if you need a weaker scare.

The original and remake of House on Haunted Hill are good too. And the remake's got Jeffrey Combs in it, the King of Creepy Scares.

The Changeling should have her shaking in her boots, and there's no gore or nudity. If that doesn't work, try going back to the old b&w classics such as Les Yeux Sans Visage (Eyes Without a Face), the Universal series and some of Tod Browning's better works.

I'd go with the Changeling. I love that movie, and I think it's very creepy.

Yeah, The Changeling would be a good choice. It has a certain charm that would most likely appeal to a "non-believer." Poltergeist is a personal favorite supernatural/ghost flick of mine. She might take to the Freelings since they're a likeable, believable family unit as opposed to the annoying, paper thin characters showcased in the "stupid" F13 films.

She seems possibly jaded, somehow. Lock her in a remote cabin in the woods alone for the night, with the only electricity being used for a TV and VCR/DVD player...put on ANOES/F13TH then come back around dawn and see if she thinks they're still stupid. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

hmmm...interesting,

I think Poltergeist isn't quite what I'm looking for...I've never seen The Changeling, what is it about?

I recomend Black Christmas, that movie still freaks me out.

The Changeling is about a composer who moves into a brooding, gothic mansion after the tragic deaths of his wife and daughter. He soon realizes that the place is haunted by an apparition that is trying desperately to communicate with him. This flick a must-see, horror fan or not. If your ex-girlfriend isn't turned on by gratuitous nudity or bloodshed, then need not worry. There isn't an ounce of blood in the entire film (well, maybe an ounce). The Changeling relies on style, atmosphere, suspense, and mood to reel the viewer in. The acting is superb, the pacing is tight, and the house itself is exquisitely morose and gloomy. Out of all the recommendations in this thread, this is probably the best choice.

My rating-4.5/5

The count nailed it on the head, The Changeling is the perfect choice for someone who wants zero gore and a really good jumpy fright. I love the way George C. Scott's character realises he's not hearing things and starts to investigate the sad history of the house he's living in. (Actually, I should probably review this film for your site, Mojo.)

well, thanks for the advice guys. I was reading about the "Changeling" on IMDB and Leonard Maltin actually called it "scary", so that's gotta be a good sign cause he usually hates horror

DWHots: I love Black Christmas too, but that was my point, she doesn't dig slashers, so I'm trying to stay away from them

I'm gonna try to show it to her this weekend (the changeling that is), I'll let you guys know if she peed her pants!

Yea, The Changeling is one of the scariest movies I've ever seen.

Try "The Sentinel" if you can find it. It's a great little overlooked supernatural gem. Great film to start someone out on.

Maybe "Urban Ghost Story"? If you can get the DVD with the documentary about the real poltergiest case (I don't know if it's exclusive to region 2), you should make her brownify her underwear.

Just pop in any of the forementioned flicks but only record about ten min.s of the film. Then after ten min.s convert the chosen film into porn, bend your woman over and give her something to be scared about.

No dude I am just kiddin'
House on Haunted Hill (remake) is pretty slick. It's fast paced, sexy, and funny at parts. *** out of *****

Evil Demonic...hey man, that's not a bad idea actually, lol, maybe i'll try that one, just make sure it's like an extreme closeup or something when it cuts in...haha, great shit

I'm not gonna show her The Changeling this weekend, but probably next

Anyone else know anything about that "urban ghost story" Scully was talking about? I've never heard of it but you've gotta love true stories.

Well, here's the link to it on IMDb, but I dunno if it's much help.

http://us.imdb.com/Title?0120423

Something tells me it's not very well-known in the US, and according to the IMDb, it's been in the UK 2 years longer.
What I can tell you, however, is that this is a great "creepy poltergeist thing" movie, and the documentary on the DVD is excellent too. Really scares the shite outta ya.
