What did you guys think of the series? The first one got a bad review on some other sites, but I liked it. Besides a couple of corny scenes(the bees, etc..), it was pretty freaky. Your opinions?

I think the Ammityville 2 is one of the best horror movies ever.

Its genuinly creepy and has plenty of scary scenes/moments.

The movie reeks of death and horror, and it never lets up.
Even at the end there is no escape.

I cant understand why this movie has been slayed so much because its genuinly scary.

I cant really think of too many scarier movies.

I watched the first one like a year ago and remember thinking it wuz dull. But I will agree that the second one wuz scary shite. It didn't pull any punches that's fer sure. I stopped watching the Amityville movies at Part 4. Anybody seen all of them? Am I missing something?

I've actually sat through every single one of them....(Ya know, hoping and praying that they would get better...yeah,lots of luck on that one.) I actually like the first one-the second ones is not all that bad...but the rest just plain suck~ I mean, towards the end of all the sequels, they start grasping for things that are from the house that are haunted...a good example..the last one in the "series" was a possessed mantle clock...stupid,stupid,stupid.

i saw the Ammityville about the clock a few years ago- and that is one of the most boring movies ive ever seen. is it called 'Its about time' or something equally as sucky?!

and the dollshouse one is just a big joke!!!!

the 1st is ok, but disjointed in places, and i havent seen the second one...

I've never got round to seeing the original, but AMITYVILLE 2 does ROCK - as ASSASSIN said, it is genuinely scary shit, and ARROW, it doesn't pull any punches (you'll see why). One of my mates thinks the scariest thing ever is eerie music with kids singing in a... strange way. You can imagine the music to this shit him up big!
I've seen all of the others except for 3, even all of the shitty spin off ones, DOLLHOUSE - bad, GENERATION - bad, and 1992:IT'S ABOUT TIME - i did like it, but thinking about it, bad. Oh, and AMITYVILLE 4: THE EVIL ESCAPES - i know straight to cable coms into mind for the others, but this should've been straight to the bin!

The first one scared me as a child. Like it now, but I'm not a fan of the sequals. /ubb/frown.gif Maybe if I watched them again I'd change my mind.

Femme: While the video has been officially deleted (since June last year), it can still be found in some stores and virually any market/second hand place you can find! Even a large blockbuster will probably have it for rent!

There's also a DVD, but I dunno about the quality...

Whoah...this topic is old! Anyway, part 2:the possession,is my fav. of the series. The music is fucking creepy! The first ones was similar, but didnt affect me as much...and that possession makeup was scaryshit!! Although I must say that Rutyana aldas bad acting, and the incest issue, was unforgettable...i just bought it off ebay...never saw it in a year...actually sinse 1982 in the theater! Buy it!

The first one scared me when I was little, but now I find it downright boring. Especially after finding out that the "true story" that it was based on turned out to be a hoax....and seeing much better haunted house movies, like POLTERGEIST and THE CHANGELING.

The house still looks creepy, though.

Saw this over on the Corona Productions message forum. Thoguht it might be of interest, especially with all the recent rumors about a new Amityville movie and/or TV series.

You should see the History Channel documentary on the Amittyville case. IT totally debunks the people who called it a hoax. George and Kathy Lutz appear on the show and their interviews are very believable. They never admitted it was a hoax. They were just accused of concocting one by some people who wanted a slice of the pie. The Lutzes didn't get rich off the story and spent many years defending themselves in lawsuits. Rent or watch the History Channel shows for the full story or read the review at http://us.imdb.com/Details?0173638.
Before seeing this, I wasn't sure where my views on this case stood. After seeing it, I can definitely say that I believe SOMETHING happened in that house. Either way, it should make for a great revival.

Is the first film gory at all? If so can you please give a brief description?

Thanks!
