If you like 80's slasher movies then rent it dude. It's way better than some of the crap they put out(MADMAN, SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE) plus it has cool killings and Tom Savini made the fx. Worth a rental.

The acting and dialouge suck. the plot is unorginal. That being siad the gore FX are excellent, and it is fun in a mindless sort of way. The gore includes impalments, thraot slashings, exploding head, etc. In all a good time toi be had by the open minded.
** 1/2 out of ****

the FX are outstanding ( from Savini of course !! )
it is very gory but there is too much cat and mouse situation.
I mean the girl is in the house, the killer ,too and again and again.
A better use of the different settings would have been more interesting.
the acting is fairly average.
some good suspense, too.
you have tits and ass in the shower scene where the girl is killed in a gruesome way!!

The Prowler was directed by Joseph Zito (Friday the 13th 4) and also goes by the title Rosemary's Killer. The movie starts out with a bunch of old war footage which is very well done i might add. Then it flashes to a letter being written to this GI in the war saying that this girl (Rosemary) didn't want to stick around with this guy she was leaving him. So needless to say he was pissed. Then it flashes to a dance in the 1940's. Looks kinda like a back to the future flick and then Rosemary and her new bf sneak to this secluded lake with a little pavilion. You then see a killer in combat boots with a pitchfork approaching them. He then impales the both of them which is a cool fx scene even though it is a little dark. Then they flash into the present day (1981) with a bunch of kids putting on a graduation dance. This is when the kills come and they are pretty cool. Especially the shower scene with the pitchfork and the bayonette though the head. I also liked the pool death scene. Then after that it is cat and mouse with the killer. The lead heroine is kinda like Amy Steele from Friday Pt 2 and she does a decent job as well as the deputy. The ending is very good and has some shock factor to it. Overall this is a good movie in my oppinion. Very well made and the music is great in this. You can tell that this had a decent budget along the same lines as My Bloody Valentine. My grade is A-

From Savini.com
Anchor Bay will be releasing the classic Savini film The Prowler on DVD. The disc will feature behind the scenes photos and video clips supplied by Tom. He has also been asked to do a commentary track for the film. No release date is know at the time of this writing, but as soon as Anchor Bay passes the info along, you can bet we will be posting it.

I own it, of course because it is a classic.
The FX from Savini are more than believable and convincing.
It is bloody and very gory ( the shower scene and the guy killed there !! )
But there are too much cat and mouse situations and the characters walk too much.

I own this film also and its one of my favs. Only thing I didn't like was that a couple of the characters dissappear without any answers why like Laurence Tierneys character and the couple in the basement. I give the movie 2 thumbs up. The asshole motel desk clerk is funny to watch. Plus you got Farley Granger in it ...hes probably best known for starring in 2 Hitchcock classics: Rope and Strangers on a Train.

Jeez, I wished Anchor Bay released stuff in Australia. I've read about all the horror films they've been releasing and I'm jealous. I mean, it took me two years to track down a VHS copy of Black Christmas. It's a classic and you can barely find it over here! I know this is off topic, but I was getting around to the point of the post - I really want a DVD copy of The Prowler (it's called Rosemary's Killer over here). It's very difficult being a horror fan living in Australia. Sniff.
