I live in the UK and just purchased Jason Goes To Hell on DVD. When I was watching it it seemed completely different to the VHS version. It was longer. The VHS version came out in '93. The DVD came out in October last year and I must say I am completely in love with the BBFC (British Board Of Film Classification). They have totally produced a fine Friday film with no cuts.

In the seen where the campers are having sex in the tent and the girl gets a pike through here: the VHS version would stop there. But the DVD has more gore showing the spike ripping through her body and halving it. It looks bloody great. There are more bits to it but too long to go into detail.

Anyone else seen it - UK or US Posters.

JGTH was never cut by the bbfc according to their website, although the Guild 93 version is nearly 3 minutes shorter than the Pathe 2001 version. I would guess the 93 versions the US mpaa R cut and the DVD's the unrated version. Can anyone confirm that?

I've got the directors cut and the workprint. The directors cut includes all of the gore which the R version leaves out(such ass the camper scene along with most of the other deaths.)And it also took me a while to find the R version cause all you see down here is the directors cut.The workprint is also way fucking cool. It's got almost every cut scene like the dead boyfriend who was cut from the movie and the original demon ending and all the fancy shit. The only thing it doesn't have is the prank call scene and a few tidbits taken out of conversations here and there.I was wondering if the DVD featured any of these scenes?

JGTH hasn't come out on DVD yet. The only version of the movie I ever saw was the US VHS Director's Cut. Better than the theatrical for the graphic-ness of it.

It hasn't come out in the states on DVD, but I'm pretty sure that it has in Europe...

I have seen the "uncut" version released in the states, and it was much better than the theatrical release, for all the reasons listed.

I got a question though...can a DVD from the UK play on a standard DVD player from the U.S.? or is it a different region?

No a standard UK DVD will NOT play on a standard USA machine. You are region 1, we are region 2. JGTH is out on DVD here (although it's a budget release with no extras)
