I have a stupid question about Blair Witch

Well I finally rented Blair Witch project.I did not see at the theater when it came out so it was all new to me.I had heard my cousin say that the end would give me the creeps for a long time.Well I just watched it all and I feel like an idiot cause I don't get what I saw(ending wise).
I know this is sort of a SPOILER but please tell me what went on here.

Ok, Heather and Mike went looking for Josh cause they heard him screaming right. They saw that house and then they went inside right. Mike went in the basement and the Blair Witch (I guess nobody really knows) killed him from behind. Then Heather walks in and sees Mike in the corner just as Rustin Parr put the children in the corner when he murdered them. She freaks out, and then the Blair Witch kills her too. Spooky eh?
