Well I must say I am definitly looking forward to this movie after seeing, and loving, both of the "Mummy" movies. Also, I'm a huge WWF fan and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson looks to be the next action hero. You can bet that this movie will open at #1 because every wrestling fan on the face of the planet will go see it. I know I'll be there on April 19, 2002 when it comes out, will you?

And by the way, I read that Vince McMahon is serving
as Executive Producer of "The Scorpion King".
My questions are 1. What exactly is an executive producer? And I wonder: How much money is Vince McMahon, and the WWF getting out of this? I mean, The Rock is one of their
biggest stars. They've got to be getting something out of it!!!

THe First Mummy Rocked, just to say that. I do watch the WWF from time to time. I do like The Rock, but how can you say that you liked The Mummy Returns. The only parts that I liked of that movie were the parts that The Rock weren't in. As for The Scorpion King, The Rock is a good guy for the role, it will just be a bad movie.

How can you tell? From a couple of trailers and a One-Sheet? Don't judge a movie until you've seen it. You don't know thats going to be bad. Nobody does. I'm pretty sure that most people are smart enough to know that this movie isn't supposed to be an Oscar Worthy film, it's just supposed to be a good, and fun "popcorn" flick. But, for some reason people around here are to caught up in artsy fartsy films to even care or even give it a chance. It's sad really.

Now doesn't that say something about our society!
Well WWF aside, way aside, I think the movie will do well but not as well as the Mummy pics.
The first was okay but the second was terrible.
It will be like many of the movies these days, a financial success but overall a forgettable effort.
But the Rock may be able to parlay this into a Conan like Franchise and make 3 or 4 equaly mediocre flicks.
I won't be seeing this until it comes out on video, and yes DTM I know it has not come out yet.
But if this movie is even a half way decent popcorn flick I will eat my virtual hat!
Out......................

Hehehe, next action hero?
Oh you do make me laugh.
This movie will be one of the biggest attrocities of the year, if not the decade. After his perfomance in Mummy returns and the fact that he's "The Rock" it's just going to be an awful movie!

You are right, i must say, we can't judge it before we've even seen it, but...we are judging it!
This movie will not even achieve "fun, popcorn movie" status!
It's not sad really, becasue this movie is just a money making scheme.
Granted we could look at all other movies say they're all money making scheme's, but at least there is some artistic integrity in other movies.
This sequel/prequel whatever it is, was thrown together so quickly it's quite unbelievable...quality NOT guaranteed!

Not true. He was hardly in this movie at all. Even when he was he was TERRIBLE. He didn't have to talk or anything and he still sucked ass.

You are right. I shouldn't judge the movie from the trailers. It is just one of those movies that don't look very good to me, that's all.

Funny, you say don't judge a movie when you haven't seen it, however you keep going on about how bad Death To Smoochy looks???
Here's one of your quotes from the Death To Smoochy forum:
"Agreed! Smoochy looks like plain trash. I would rather watch an episode of Barney then sit through this flick. I'm pretty sure that an episode of Barney would be more enjoyable."

Comapared to its budget and its precedors I predict that this movie will B-O-M-B! I will most likely have a good opening weekeng no. and then fall really badly http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif Judging from the trailer the movie looks horrible compared to The Mummy series, well, at least there are news of The Mummy 3 getting green light http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

since when do u assume every1 only cares about artsy films? because they don't share ur opinions? u seem to think that just because they're not excited about TSK means no one can enjoy a popcorn film. its not an insult, just an observation. but u speak of not judging a film until you see it, but yet, u prejudge Death to Smoochy, saying ur ass is wittier, EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT. what u did is what we're doing, judging a movie by the trailer.

Oh NO! Those are two of my least favorite arguments!
DTM, trailers are supposed to lure us in and make us think a movie will be great. We are supposed to form opinions based on the trailers, and there is nothing wrong with saying a movie might be bad because the trailer was bad. And idealdiscountdude is right, you've judged Death to Smoochy based on the trailers, so why can't we for this movie?
And also, why do you seem to think that we all hate fun movies and only like artsy movies? Nobody here has done anything to indicate that that is the case, but you mention that all the time.
