Who remembers that thing? I just watched it again recently, and thought it was actually allright. Not like when I was nine, when I thought it was the best monster movie ever, but you could do worse. My favorite character was Rudy; that boy can kick ass if you hand him a bow and some wooden stakes, not to mention a silver bullet or two.

It's a great little flick. I watched it all the time as a child, and I haven't seen it for about eight years. I loved the werewolf seen where he blows up, then comes back together, and also where the mummy falls off of the car. "Bandaid Breath". Dracula was the best though, because he was very creepy and brutal, but Frankenstein was nice.

WOLFMAN'S GOT NARDS!!!!
I must have rented this movie at least twice a month for a year when I was 9 or 10.I only remember bits and pieces, though. This is a great way to introduce younger kids to horror. Sure there are monsters, but they're tame enough to entertain. (and this is coming from someone who was consistently scared of are You Araid of the Dark. Yes, I was quite the pussy as a young lad.)

Ive been waiting for the Monster Squad to come out on Dvd forever. God I love that movie. That scene when they shove that pice of Pizza on Draculas face and he starts burning used to scare the hell out of me when I was young. Also it was the first movie to introduce to me the whole history behind the Nazi Death Camps of WW2. Which is a very serious and thoughtfull addition to a scary movie made especially for younger kids.

I was a little knocked for a loop by that very serious reference in what is essentially a quickie monster flick for kids. Fred Dekker did that in Night of the Creeps, too; the death of JC was actually quite sad and touching in the midst of all that B-movie action.

No way! I was about to post this topic like a week ago but decided against it...
I love this frigging movie, just a fun piece of 80's horror. Sure it's a childrens movie pretty much, but it's still fun, and that's all that matters right?

yeah...the monster squad! Jeez can someone tell me why this isnt out on dvd yet?
This flick is a kids flick yes, its got that hardyboys/goonies feel to it, but it also has some preatty cool horrific moments.
Loved it as a kid, love it now that im 25.
The fx are great thanks to stan -the man- winston. That opening sequence with all the squeletons popping out of the floor in that cool castle...that was preatty scary stuff. And the Dracula in the film has that classic dracula look to him wich kicks ass. I love that line: "meeting adjourned" and then the club house blows up. ha! cool stuff in deed.
Fred Dekker did a decent job directing as he did before with Night of the Creeps- another excellent horror flick not out on DVD. Damn those those corporate ignorant bastards who hold the rights to both of these cool flicks.

This movie is the only one I've seen that has a renewed Creature from the Black Lagoon. I still have the tape from the time I recorded it off of tv. Did anyone ever see the trailer? At the start, you can hear Brad Fiedel's tune from Fright Night for a brief couple of seconds.

I will never forget this movie. I love it dearling. When I was young me and my sister watched it all the time. We taped it and must've watched it everyday. I was on eBay the other night looking to get a copy, and the cheapest copy was 15 bucks for a VHS tape! Each copy had at least 10 bids. This movie is a hot item! I can't wait for the DVD, and I hope to God that it will have ALOT of extra features!

You say that as if there's a DVD on the way. I haven't heard about that possibility at all.

Slightly off-topic.
Does anyone remember the Saturday morning TV show called Monster Squad from back in the 70s?
It was basically a scientist named Walter who had wax statues of Frankenstein, Dracula and the Wolfman. Every night he would activate a switch on their lab-tables and wake them up. The monsters would then go out and do super-hero type stuff. Very campy, but very fun. Anyone remember this?
