Who cares? X ratings means porn. I've seen one porn movie mixed horribly w/ horror and it does not work. The whole time you think should I be horny or scared but the mixture is deadly, like N'SYNC fans at a TooL concert.

uhhhhh,

Is that why they were gonna give some Friday movies an X???? cuz of the porn? I think not

I think so buddy. X-rated is porn, NC-17 is extremely violent or contains, softcore porn (no intercourse) or lots of violence. Research things you say before you say them, or you just look kinda silly.

I'll explain this. X-ratings are not given out anymore. They were abandoned years ago. Right now the highest rating a film can get is NC-17, which is received by pornos, comedies, and horror movies alike. Sometimes a porno will say it is rated X to attract a wider audience (because everyone knows the term "Rated X"), but they really aren't.

Years ago they use to use X even for violence before NC-17. A couple of movies that come to mind are Conan the Barabrian and Robocop. The MPAA had nothing else to use to rate these movies so they received X, such a rating would have crippled the commercial "appeal" to these movies, thus they were trimmed.

As far as age ie 21 yrs old or 18yrs old that most likely varied from state to state

As far as "X" movies many Japanese or Chinese movies would now have either an X or NC17 rating:

Guts of a Virgin
Entrials of a Virgin
Guts of a Virgin aka Rusted Body
Guniena Pig Series
A lot of the Anime ( Legend of the Overfiend, The Wandering Kid series, Demon Beast Invasion, Nightmare Campus, Twin Angels, La Blue Girl)
Robotrix
Zero Woman
Zero Woman Returns
The Untold Story

Joe D'Amato had a couple horror/sex flicks: Porno Holocasut and Eroctic Nights of the Living Dead.

I get what your saying ROB, Like Fredyy and Izombie said the didnt have a NC17 a while back so they use X for movies that had extreme gore by the MPAA.which to me doesnt make anyt since becuase when I see X on a movie I automaticly think porn.

I know Rob, you know a ratings a rating, why not leave the movie how it is and not trim the good gore out of it. Good point Rob

The truth on the X rating:

This rating was in the system during the 60's and 70's. During the 70's it got abandoned by the MPAA. It's still in use cuz anyone can rate there movie X my simply not turning it in for ratings submission. IT'S THE SAME AS SAYING UNRATED. Also there's no difference between X and XXX

No Mike. The Friday the 13th movies were butchered to avoid the NC17 rating. The X rating was pretty much changed to "NC17" even though they're the same thing. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Funny, no one is even answering Rob's question. Yes Rob, I have seen several X-Rated ones (as deemed by my Blockbuster) :

TCM (I don't know why though)

Night of the Living Dead

Night of the Living Dead (1990)

Dawn of the Dead

Day of the Dead

That's all I can think of now.

Those were X-rated? JESUS! It just further proves my theory that Blockbuster sucks.

An NC17 movie I saw was Rest in Pieces (although i dont know WHY it was rated that). Also Maniac would have been rated NC17 if it were rated. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

The F13 movies were originally rated X. Look it up on imdb or something. The NC-17 rating wasn't introduced until 1990.
