After buying the Nightmare on Elm Street DVD Box Set from the good old US of A, I found that it was cut compared to the UK video version (when Tina falls from the ceiling and hits the bed, the UK version has a big splash of blood).

However, this has already been reported on imdb.com. What interested me more was another cut that slightly changes the mood of the movie. This cut isn't on the US DVD, but on the original 1984 UK video version.

Compare these two versions of the scene where Nancy is talking to Rod in the jail, asking him about Freddy.

US DVD VERSION

ROD - I probably could have saved her if I'd moved sooner... but I thought it was just like another nightmare, like the one I had the night before.
(NANCY LOOKS AT ROD, FEARFUL)
ROD - There... there was this guy who had knives for fingers...
(NANCY IS SHOCKED AND TURNS TO LEAVE THE ROOM)
ROD - Do you think I did it?
(NANCY TURNS TO LOOK AT ROD)
NANCY - No.
(NANCY BANGS ON THE DOOR AND THE WARDEN LETS HER OUT)

UK ORIGINAL VIDEO VERSION

ROD - I probably could have saved her if I'd moved sooner... but I thought it was just like another nightmare, like the one I had the night before.
(NANCY LOOKS AT ROD, FEARFUL)
ROD - There... there was this guy who had knives for fingers...
(NANCY IS SHOCKED AND TURNS TO LEAVE THE ROOM)
ROD - Do you think I did it?
(NANCY BANGS ON THE DOOR AND THE WARDEN LETS HER OUT)

This may make it seem to some people that Nancy thought Rod DID do it. I just thought it was an interesting cut to make. Has anyone else in the UK, or indeed in the US if other copies of this exist, seen this small cut?

No Scully I can honestly say I have not seen that scene in any of the versions I have seen. It sure does make Nancy look like she thinks Rod is guilty though. Good thing they kept the "no" in the movie. One scene that didnt make it to the film (at least in the versions i've seen) that I find interesting is the part where Lt. Thompson says something along the lines of "She walked out in a bag." John Saxon did a great job with that role. Especially in part 3. "I killed you once before you SON OF A BITCH!!" and then BAM! Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I haven't seen the other cut either, but the "original" where Nancy says no, she doesn't sound really that convincing either. And leaving in a hurry after that...Well, if I was Rod, I would think that she thinks I did it.
