It seems to me that there aren't enough horror movies these days with cool monsters in them. I'm getting tired of people in masks running around with knives. All you have to do is shoot them and that's not enough of a challenge. I liked The Relic and Spiders was pretty cool. Can you guys think of some that I'm forgetting?

I thought the little albino midget blashemies in BLEEDERS were pretty cool, with their homemade weapons and family issues. Rented this one on a whim, not expecting much, and it turned out to be pretty good...

I totally agree with "Anaconda"... it was a great, great film. Not a masterpiece by any means, but fun as hell to watch...

Don't know what year it was (96/97?) but
Tremors 2 is one of my recent faves.
I had my doubts when I found out Kevin Bacon wasn't in it,
but I loved it just as much as the first one.
It has to be one of the best straight-to-video sequels in years.

I liked THE RELIC, DEEP BLUE SEA, & MIMIC (even though it rips-off THE RELIC) a lot. Also, HOLLOW MAN was one too, in a sense, due to the fact that it was nearly IDENTICAL to DBS, just a man (dare I say MONSTER??) instead of sharks...I also liked SHAKMA (the BABOON movie) , which got major boos from sum of you...

Oh my God. I saw Bleeders too. Except over here it's called Hemoglobin. The midget killers in that were pretty cool. But....SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER (is this enough warning?) SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER....the part where he eats a fetus to cure his "condition" was taking things a bit too far, even for me. Though, I must admit, when you're drunk with a bunch of friends it certainly provides the (very) odd laugh.
SPOILER OVER.

Deep rising was defenetly one the best Creature Features in a long time! I saw it at least 4 times at the theater. Movie was great every step of the way right up the (spoiler!!) giant squid at the ending.

I dont know how many of you like Lake Placid but I thought it was a cool monster movie. Some nice gory scenes in this one. That opening sequence with the divers body being chopped on half was fairly decent.

The Relic blew me away the first time I saw it. Still does.

And lets not forget Jeppers Creepers wich is an excellent monster movie in its own right.

As of late nineties creature features, I have to say "Deep Blue Sea" was the best of the bunch and somewhat underated by the movie people. Sure the second half was lacking in plot and was pretty thin. I did enjoy the scares in the film. I am not an easy person to scare but thanks to propper direction, the film made me jump and get startled a couple of time.

*SPOILERS* in this paragraph. I liked in this film how you really could never predict who was going to get killed. Like when I thought Preacher was going to get killed in the kitchen and he ends up surviving the whole movie. I was also quite surprised when Samual Jackson's character gets killed halfway through the film. I thought he would make it cause he seemed like your calm ideal hero. But no, he bit it halfway through the film. Even my local movie critic praised how you really couldn't predict who was going to get it. I also thought the sharkwrangler guy was going to be shark meat a few times, but once again he survived.

Besides this had some good humor in this movie. Like when that preacher guy would swear. Funny stuff! So despite lacking in character and plot, "Deep Blue Sea" is the best creature feature I have seen in a long while. It may be a Jaws ripoff but one with a bite. Anyone know if there is going to be a sequel to this film? I heard some rumors a while ago. But still quite not sure. Stefan's out.
