Anatomie - A Brief Review

I just finished watching Anatomie tonight and thought I would tell ya'll how I thought of this German-English dubbed flick.

Premise - In short : A chick at a medical school discovers that a group of anti-hippocratic doctors are killing students and doing really fucking nasty things to them.

The Good - The gore is really realistic here and it doesn't stay away from it. This isn't Dawn of the Dead here people, but there is some serious juice. The worst of it being a dude getting dissected while he is alive. On another note, the sets were really great, there is this hot blonde chick and the camera shots are cool.

The Bad - Well, its hard to judge the acting on a dubbed movie, but I don't think it was that great. The lead was decent and some of the side characters were good, but the main villian's performace sometimes seems shakey. Also, for some weird reason the story skips scenes without telling you what happened in between (for example - In one fight scene, the lead gets the villian in a tight spot. The next scene is unrelated to the fight. It goes back to the fight where they are suddenly in a different room and fighting again. What happened?!?!). Also, no female nudity.

Overall - The flick is hip, gory, well-directed and has great sets. Also gets nasty and fleshy in parts...for some reason I like that. I had never seen another foreign film before this (besidesCrouching THD) and I enjoyed myself. Rent it as something to do some night or if TCM is checked out.

Great review!!! I loved this movie!!! Really gross and funny and sexy and Franka Potente is hotter than hell. My girlfriend is a nurse and she won't go near this one!!! I am such a fan of this movie.

I am gonna track down the DVD, it's so hard to find where I live. I would easily give it 10/10 in the German version but dubbed it scores 9/10, I am such a purist when it comes to that sort of stuff.

Anatomy is one of the smartest horror films to come out in the last decade, its also the only film revolving around a secret society that i have found even remotely interesting. the casting is mostly pretty damn good especially Potente who is great as the lead character. the rest of the cast is also good and the bad guys are very menacing. i was also impressed with the script which is very clever with some humour thrown in around the detailed conversations and dialogue. the director manages to create some very tense scenes, especially those involving chases thanks to some good use of the camera, the actors and the look of the building. the sets were also good with the building having a very medicinal feel to it thanks to all the shiny chrome tables and doors. i also really liked the soundtrack
