Excellent choice JC. This movie is an all out gory classic. As for Slumber Party Massacre 2... it is very cheesy with lots of bad acting (which i like) and contained one of the most annoying and irritating villains to ever "grace" my tv screen. Consider this somewhat of a warning. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

One of my favorite series of all time!!
Appperently, Raimi made a little low budget film before he made the evil dead, kind of in the series. I've only heard of it once, and I have no idea if it was ever released on video..in fact, I have no idea if this is even true!!
(Either way, we should just bury chewtoy's posts and ignore him!!! Hopefully, that will bring things back to normal!!)

Yep, Raimi made quite a few short 8mm movies with Bruce Campbell and the gang. I think the one you are referring to is Within The Woods, it was basically a short version of Evil Dead that was used to get financing for the feature film.

There is a website for Within the Woods, but commerically it was never released. It's only like half an hour at the most.

Raimi and Bruce Campbell tried hard to get it on the Book of the Dead: Limited Edition DVD version of the movie, but whoever owns the rights would not budge. It may appear one day on a future DVD version of the movie, Anchor Bay love putting out different versions of the Evil Dead movies.

Ya...I've got the one with the clear plastic case, but I saw the one loaded with Xtras for 14.99 so I was thinking about picking it up
Dude, I can't believe you went to a video store with the sole purpose of renting slumber party massacre II, it's easily the worst movie I have ever seen! and that's not in a good way. I enjoy the occasional slice of cheese, but this one isn't funny, infact I think I'm a worse person for having wasted 80 minutes of my life on it

Has anyone actually ever seen "Within the woods"?

MotorizedInstinct... I have, it is kinda cool. No idea where one would go to see it now though. (Anyone out there know??? Bootlegs? Anyone?)
Now I'm going by memory here... but it goes something like this. Bruce Campbell's character heads out to a farmhouse with his girl and a few friends. Bruce and his chick head off for a picnic in the woods. While walking he finds an arrowhead (?) and begins to tell his girl about Indian burial grounds they're walking on and about a legendary Indian spirit that protects the sanctity of said grounds. Well, the spirit is angered, Bruce gets possesses, murder ensues.
It was a pretty sweet short film, especially after having seen Evil Dead. Very similar, but still, obviously, not quite fleshed-out.

I've got Within The Woods on my computer but I haven't gotten around to watch it, since it does have a really bad film quality. There's a website where you can download it, but it seems to be down at the moment.
I'll let you know what it's like as soon as I see it.

jc, if you havent seen part two, get up right now and go rent the sequel, wich is just as good and maybe a little more. But this one is one of those movies I show my friends to freak them out, specially that scene where ashs friend gets possesed and starts chumping on that girls leg, and then I show them the last 20 minutes where you know the bad guy just doesnt die, he just keeps rotting away and melting and decomposing. And that scene where he chops off his own girlfriends head and that black blood falls all over ashs face. Damn! It has some truly gory stuff. Im trying to get the new version of this film you know the BookSoon I will be buying the next 2 sequels! of the DEad edition but its like 40 bucks, so I gota wait a little, but Ill get it eventually. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I downloaded Within the Woods a while back and made a VCD with it. You can download it off of Kazaa. That's where I got mine.
