Everything out this year has sucked except Hannibal which was decent. I will vote for none of the above and hope 15 minutes is a good movie.

Excluding the kick-ass "Snatch" which is a 2000 release, the best movie so far is The Mexican (7.5/10).

I've enjoyed the Mexican so far. Seeing also how that's the only movie I've seen this year - that probably has something to do with it.

SNATCH BY FAR, when you got Benicio Del Toro, even though only for a while, its a good film. I really hope Guy Ritchie makes more great movies like this one and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Hey JoBlo. I sent you email about your 'blow' review that I couldn't find anywhere on your web site, but go ahead and disregard that email I sent you 'cause I'll go ahead and ask you on this board:

I can't seem to find a review of it anywhere on your web site here.

Just curious. what was your rating of it ?

Enemy at the Gates is my favorite so far, becuase its the only one i have seen this year.
It was a good movie, but not great. The main draw-back is its sudden change of scenes. YOur in the middle of a hunting scene and then the next scene appears out of no where and you see the characters safe inside their base. You dont know how they got out of the situation, they just do. hm...

MrWhite
03-17-2001, 02:54 PM
ENEMY AT THE GATES SURPASSED EVEN MY EXPECTATIONS! Jude Law and Ed Harris were brilliant! The scene with Jude Law and Rachel Weisz you know the one i mean cracked me up (her buttocks were a welcome sight!!) Anyway it kicked ass!Im going 2 stick my neck out now and say EVEN BETTER THAN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN!

JoBlo
03-19-2001, 02:15 PM
Damn boooooy, could this be the week that turned the tide?! Last week I saw BLOW, which rocked, but whose review I can't put up until opening day. Then a few days after that I see ENEMY OF THE GATES, which I liked even better, and then today, YES, I see the infamous MEMENTO and it blows my mind!!

That's three awesome movies in a week?! Maybe there's hope for 2001 after all, dudes!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!

Enemy At the Gate.
Until I find out how the hell I can see Memento. Someone throw me a bone. Any word on the a release date in the US. You know for a country that is supposedly one of the most artistically open we don't get some amazing movies meanwhile the man that brought us Desperado is know making Kiddy james Bond movies (Spy Kids?) can't dimension films just go bankrupt like they promised. Sorry 'bout that. I just want to see a good movie.

Enemy at the Gates, which I thought was only marginally good. Kinda says what this year of movies has been.

Bart Simpson
03-21-2001, 01:45 PM
I'm changing my vote
Memento all the way, that movie rocked.
Joblo was right when that movie is a thinker. When the movie ended the whole audience sat in the theater and just stared at the screen, thinking about what just happened.

Clearly "Memento." Gripping, and it won't insult your intelligence like every other movie that's come out this year.

Memento, without a doubt.

In fact, I predict that I'll still think it's number one at the end of the year.

Is it my imagination or have there been more
"chick flicks" out this year than usual?
I swear if I hear than there is another Hanks/Ryan collaboration in the works, I'm gonna go on a junior high school shooting spree!

Lindsey

"Enemy at the Gates" sounds like it took the name from "Enemy of the States"! not that it matters but it sounded alike!?

The Mexican cannot be on anyone's top list, it sucked! The acting was great, but the sory was lame. I have yet to see the best of 2001, but Memento has had a good buzz.

Just saw Enemy of the Gates and it was a pretty damn good movie. I am a huge WWII junkie and that movie satisfied my appetite with some violence and action.

So far I have seen only 3 movies in 2001, but I rank them as such.

1. Memento (Even with 8 months left it will be hard to top)
2. Enemy at the Gates
3. Hannibal

The only movie I've seen so far is TOMCATS and I thought it was really good so I'd have to say that... I mean yeah, it could have been better but for the most part I enjoyed it and I loved the eye candy...

TOMCATS 9/10

I know it won't win any Oscars but if you just relax and have fun then you won't be disapointed, it was a fun flick...

Okay, I saw it and it is official. MOMENTO is the coolest movie so far. And I know it will be cheesey as hell but I'm betting that Josey and the Pussycats will be this year what Charley's Angels was last year. A good filler. Or guilty pleasure. I am expecting chicks and cool music, that's it. Same with Joe Dirt, everyone will say it sucked but I will sit quietly in the corner ashamed taht I enjoyed it.

If memento is so great, why has it earned a lousy 2 million bucks so far at the box office ?
By the way,I'm from Belgium, this still isn't released here.
