Ok you and your friends decide to do a 6 hour horror movie marathon on a saturday what are your picks going to be?

I think I would start off with A Nightmare on Elm Street and then move into the Ambonible Dr. Phibes followed by An American Werewolf in London. If you were to do a marathon what would you show?

I'd start off with Valentine, then finish with Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre. You see, watching Valentine first will make the other two classics even better!!

WOW, Great question
6 hours of horror? OK here goes:
1. Dawn of the Dead <good scares, characters everyone can get into, and some really funny moments>
2. The Burning <good killing, characters everyone can route for to die, and a cool killer>
3.The Convent <good gore, Evil nuns, and COOLIO!>

Well the average horror is about 1 1/2hr. long, so that would give me time for 4 movies. So... 1. Nightmare on Elm St. 2. Friday the 13th. 3. Halloween. 4. Phantasm. Four classics you just can't go wrong with. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I would make them watch The Stand if we would have 6 hours to kill. None of my friends saw it.

Alright since I'm lazy I'm not going to figure out times or anything, so bear with me here...

1.)Dead-Alive: Good fun horror movie to get everybody in the mood and everything.

2.)Evil Dead: To continue on the Zombie thing, and another movie that's fun to watch.

3.)Halloween: Winding down a bit, with (surprise surprise) a movie with no zombies, a much more serious tone then the previous two movies to prepare everyone for..

4.)Dawn of the Dead: Yet another zombie movie, only this time a much slower paced one (never boring though), with meaning that runs much deeper then the zombies themselves.

Okay that would run a bit longer then 6 hours because Dawn of the Dead is pretty long. But it would still be a good lineup, throw in some snacks, a liberal amount of alchahol and it'll be one sweet ass movie marathon.

First I'd go get the beers and the snacks, then I'd put:
1: Dead Alive Unrated (aprox. 90 mins.)...Gory fun to start off.
2: Hellraiser Unrated (aprox. 90
mins. to sum 3 hours.) Scare my guests a bit.
3: Wishmaster (aprox. 90 mins. to sum 4 1/2 hours) My Favorite Horror movie to make a clean continue.
4: Resident Evil (aprox 120 mins. to sum up 6 and a half hours...my guests can afford going a bit late, right??) Some gory technological fun to end up and hope for another marathon to come.

I would start with a horror flick that is (more or less) unintentional funny, to get in the mood. Something like:

THE DEMON (1979)

for example. Bad film, great party flick. After that I would continue with a recent horror flick, like:

SESSION 9 (2001)

A nice, scary and serious psycholigical shocker. The last film would be some kind of classic, like:

ROSEMARY'S BABY (1968).

Actually, I've watched those three films on saturday with a couple of friends of mine. And it turned out that they all enjoyed the hell out of my picks. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

This is weird - I had a horror movie night with my flatmates and some other new friends in Edinburgh last week, and I showed 4 films, which should come to about 6 hours. Here's what I showed them:

Nightmare On Elm Street - A damn classic.
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare - So they can see how far Freddy degenerated from the first movie. Plus, the 3D bit's cool.
Wes Craven's New Nightmare - Because the first movie will still be fresh in their minds and they'll be able to appreciate more what Craven did to bring back Freddy in his darker mood.
Sleepaway Camp - To fuck them up with THAT ending. And I did - in a large way.

Are you sitting comfortably?

Kick off with Halloween to start with a classic.
Next up - Dawn of the Dead (the 141 minute version) for a classic slice of zombie madness.
Thirdly, The Thing - still one of the great paranoid, FX-laden films. Carpenter at the top of his game (apart from Halloween of course!)
Round the whole thing off with Braindead (aka Dead Alive) because there are few films with as much gore and homour packed into 120 minutes!!

Here goes:

1. Dawn of the Dead - greatest. zombie. movie. ever.

2. Halloween - one of my personal favorites

3. Evil Dead - I finally saw this over the weekend and loved every minute of it.

4. Evil Dead 2 - I also saw this over the weekend. It was hilarious.

I'd showcase the talent of the genre's best Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis: HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN II, H20, PROM NIGHT, TERROR TRAIN, THE FOG and ROAD GAMES. (Technically, that's seven films...I know ROAD GAMES is more or less a thriller than outright horror, but it was one of JLC's best roles).

Michael_myers

Halloween
TCM
Psycho
Bride of Chucky (Chucky's hilarious)

countchocula
04-01-2002, 04:29 PM
I'd expose my friends to the best of both worlds: The Cheese & The Fear

TCM
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Black Christmas
Bad Taste

Zing!
04-01-2002, 04:55 PM
I'd go with:

COVEN (It's short and good for a few laughs...)
FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN (A campy classic!)
BRIDE OF THE MONSTER (Bela Lugosi wrestles an octopus!)
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (The '68 classic - time to get serious!)
THE EVIL DEAD (Cap off the evening with a BANG from your boomstick!)

These might be a hair over 6 hours, but it's pretty close - all in all a great night's worth of entertainment!

Night of the Living Dead
Black Christmas
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Halloween

I love my Classics.

Well I'd have to say none because none of my friends like the movies I like, they think I'm a freak for liking all the horror stuff but if they did, or if I could tie them up and force them I'd say Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Dead Alive......or The Convent, Cemetery Man, Halloween, and Friday the Thirteenth....hell lets make it an 18 hour movie marathon.

Shadow Whisper
04-01-2002, 08:12 PM
1. A nightmare on Elm Street.
2. Childs Play.
3. Friday the 13th part 4.
4. The JC version of The Thing.

But I dont feel 6 hours is not long enough for a movie marathon. I would rather see 10 as the minimum.

I also miss the horror movie marathons that movie channels used to show on or near halloween, now a days your lucky if they show even one horror movie at all in october.

1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Open with a bang! Drag them in!)

2. Nightmare On Elm Street (Let them see what this horror idol is really all about!)

3. Friday the 13th 6 (They know Jason's got 30 movies, they may as well see the best

4. Halloween (Go out with the best of all time.)

[If this was a nine hour marathon, I'd add Phantasm and Psycho]

What movies would you pick if you decided to go old school? (pre 1980)

I think I would start off with Theatre of Blood then pop on Fall of the house of Usher followed by Bride of Frankenstein and then end it with Night of the living dead.

Hmmm, interesting topic. My playlist would look something like this...

*** MINOR SPOILERS ***

1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - You can't go wrong with this brutal classic leading things off. This movie isn't really gory at all, it just feels that way.

2. Evil Dead 2 - I'll lighten things up a bit by showing this Raimi classic. After the 30 minute dinner sequence of TCM it will be good to have a laugh. Ash slowly going insane seems like the logical comedy choice to me. Groovy.

3. Black Christmas - Considered Halloween, but gotta roll with the original "holiday slasher" here in the 3 spot. Just when Ash has us rolling on the floor from laughter this bad-ass flick should bring the mood back to pure horror mighty quickly.

4. Dead Alive - After the suspense of BC I'll lighten it up once again and pull this gore-splattered zombie film from the vault. I can't think of a better way to wrap up the mini-movie-marathon that to watch Lionel butcher dozens of zombies with a lawnmower.

Now that is what I call an evening. Bring on the wings and beer.

First up is the all-time best horror movie: The Evil Dead, followed by Nightmare On Elm Street. With all the monsters and stuff before, now I'd show them American Psycho and see that a "ordinary" man could do the same thing, or maybe he couldn't...A little mindfuck there. And I'd leave them with Halloween, so they'd be really scared walking home for my place.

this is a great idea!!

1. The Evil Dead (a perfect start)
2. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (hit em where it hurts!)
3. Friday The 13th part 7 (some cheese to lighten the mood)
4. The Shinning (leave em with a good head trip to ponder)

I'd really scare my guests with these
Start off with
Zombie Flesh Eaters [Zombie]. The most extreme gore I think most of my friends could handle.
The Silence Of The Lambs. Go from something gory, but funny, to this, deeply scary materpiece.
Frankenstein (31). To show off one of the first greats of the genre.
Texas Chain Saw Massacre
To ensure they see this classic before it's reputation is ruined by Michael Bay

I've done this before a couple years ago on Halloween. I think mine ran longer than six hours but here are the films that were shown:

Halloween 6
Wishmaster
The Evil Dead
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Sleepwalkers
Strangeland
