Probably the first. The joke got a bit stale in 2 and 3. I haven't seen the last two.

I think I dig the original Leprechaun the most. It's fun to watch Jennifer Aniston go head to head with the wee, green lad. Another thing that I appreciated about the first is that it actually tried to be creepy in parts. Lep is usually only good for laughs, but I didn't mind the halfway seriousness of the film.

The second installment was mainly annoying because of the completely retarded characters. Oh, and let's not fail to mention the ridiculous acting to go with it. However, I did like how the sequel didn't just repeat the first. I enjoyed the idea of Lep trying to find a bride. Save for the premise and Warwick Davis, this ranks as my least favorite movie in the series.

Part 3 is the complete opposite of the first. Its 100% comedy. The decision to go camp makes sense and saves the series bacause there's no way that Lep can be frightening at all at this point. It works having him turn into a stand-up comedian. His rhymes are hilarious. Now I've only seen this sequel on television, so I don't know if it serves up in the gore and T&A department. The good thing is that I was still very entertained by it.

Leprechaun 4: In Space. I think the title says it all. Somehow, ol' Lep winds up in outer space and terrorizes some people in a spaceship, there's a crab guy, there's some super space woman, and Lep grows about 50 ft. tall during the climax. There's way too much going on in this so-called plot. None of it makes any sense, but then again, I guess it doesn't have to make sense to be enjoyable. It does offer some laughs here and there. Also, I can't complain about there being any dull or boring spots in the film. I suppose it could have been worse. I suppose it could have been part 5.

Good God! Lep's in the hood! With this sequel, the Leprechaun series has hit rock bottom. First of all, I can't stand rap music, so it doesn't help matters much when there's a lengthy rap performance every 20 minutes. I was surprised to see some decent acting by the main characters, though. Ice Cube was pretty tolerable as well. Overall, the only thing worth raving about is Warwick Davis. I just can't get enough of Lep. I wanted him to be in every single scene. Unfortunately, he wasn't.

I'm very much looking forward to part 6 as I'm sure it will at least be an entertaining way to spend 90 minutes.
