IMHO, The House on Haunted Hill (1999) is a quality horror movie. When it comes to terrifying psychologically, this movie does everything right. Just the scene where the autopsy seen only on the video camera pans out and the doctors and nurses don't just look up at the character, they look up through the screen at YOU is scary as all hell. In addition, the sound track moves it and the actors (and actresses) play their parts very well.

Due to the crappy ending of the film, I agree with Arrow's Three Arrows in the Head rating. However, my friends and most people I talk to in general seems to for whatever really dispise this movie. They hate it like dog shit on their shoes, I mean they really hate it!

I just wanted to know if you (the proverbial horror crowd) hated this movie too or agree with me that it is actually an awesome movie.

Thanks, Jeremy

I didn't like all the back stabbing plots. Too damn confusing. I'm also not a fan of haunted house movies. Thirdly I didnt like the evil being at the end. I big cloud of black smoke? It reminded me of a giant fart. The best thing about this movie was Chris Kattan and he wasn't even that great. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

I actually liked it too. Its one of the few horror movies in the last couple that got my heart pounding. It almost made me regret having surround sound.

I fucking hated its guts. It was a waste of time and talent. The autopsy scene was scary, but the rest of the movie made me laugh. Like when Taye Diggs fell in the bloodbath...or when Famke Janssen became that giant fly thing. Ugh.

Have any of you actually seen the original? This is not a good update!
