Firstly girls: have you encountered anyone who thinks it is weird that u are a horror fan?
cos i certainly have, people are shocked when i tell them that some of my fave movies are Evil Dead and The Brood! I think people think i should be really girly, cos im 5'3, blond and i look a bit barbie-esque....lol
And now for the guys: what do you think of us horror lovin girls? do you think its a good thing that more women are into these movies, or are you annoyed that we are changing the horror target audience?
im just really curious, give me some oppinions!

I think it's great. It's good that girls love horror movies loaded with gore and shit and not some kind of BSB clips.

I agree, usually you find most girls go see or watch horror movies because their boyfriends/friends drag them to it. It's kinda like the Jada Pinkett character in Scream 2. It's nice to know there are upstanding young women like femme with outstanding morals who would appreciate the fine aspect of a horror movie when I bring it to her house every Saturday night for our weekly date. /ubb/smile.gif
What's your favorite scary movie Fatale?

02-28-2001, 09:17 AM
Showgirls.....lol
hmm..good question, i have a few- at the moment im loving 'The Brood' Cronenberg at his finest- one scary movie!!!!
whats yours?
I also think it's great that girls like horror movies. I could never picture myself dating a girl that didn't like horror movies, because I love em'... I'd want her to share the same interests as I do and the movie thing actually is a big thing to me. If we didn't like the same types of movies it would be hard when we went to the theater or video store because we'd be arguing about what to rent or what to see. I love horror movies and I won't date someone that doesn't at least enjoy them somewhat... It's really GREAT when girls like horror movies...

My husband thinks I am weird for watching horror, but then again this is a man who rents Universal Soldier 2 and expects it to be good. (I think he just likes to see things get destroyed)He absolutely hates horror, but he will watch them with me, as long as they are newer releases. Alot of the time though, I go towards the 70-80's horror. Thats what is so great about having 5 tv's. He can watch his tacky ass action movies downstairs, and I can watch my horror upstairs,in a big comfortable bed...and hide under the covers. But, once and while he will give in and watch an older one with me. I still have yet to get him to see the Exorcist...I think it scares him. /ubb/smile.gif

Femme: The Brood is one scary movie. I like that movie A LOT, but my fav has been and probably will be The Thing (Carpenters). That movie was the first time I put a pillow over my face because I didn't want to see what was happening. I saw it with my father and he took the pillow away from me and I just remember having the living pooh scared outta me.

Horror-loving girls are very cool. But they're kind of like ghosts or Bigfoot. Do they really exist????????
Girls that love horror movies aren't that hard to find. I'm sorrounded by a ton of them... Most of the girls I know are horror fans...

geez mike, either send them my way, or I'm gonna go and live with femme. where ya from bro?
I'm from Minnesota...
It's not as bad as it sounds, we don't act anything like the people in Minnesota movies. We don't sound like they talked in Drop Dead Gorgeous or Fargo. We aren't even all rednecks... Anyway, I only know a couple girls in my life that don't like horror movies, well, actually I only know one. All of the other girls I know love horror movies... It's just hard to believe it would be hard to find one because here it would be hard not to find one. I could see maybe a long time ago where it would be hard to find a girl that liked horror movies but not anymore...

Where i'm from girls who like horror movies are THE HARDEST TO FIND. The few i do know are just my friends, and more to say, are quite ugly! I'm not shallow i'm just looking for a pretty girl who has a sense of humour, never lets herself slide when we go out, and likes horror films.
Recently, whilst hanging with the last two girls i have been with, i took advantage of the situations, and made them watch PHANTASM to see if they liked it. The first said it was crap. "God! This is soooo shit! Turn it off!" And the second moaned so much i HAD to turn it off. I then stuck FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4 on and she thought that sucked too! I'm no longer with the first girl - it lasted about 2 days after that, and the second girl is still calling me, but i don't think we have much in common so i ignore most of her calls. I'm only keeping her on the scene cos i haven't screwed her yet.

As far as the female persuasion from where I am from, I can say that no one particuraly likes horror movies aside from the 90's slashers like Scream and IKWYDLS. I worked at a movie theater and used to take notes about what type of people saw what movies. I was quite depressed that not many women wanted to see the horror movies I considered to be good. I try to get more people to enjoy a good horror movie every now and then and sometimes succeed but I more or less just end up freaking out a really nice girl. "What, you didn't like it when he ripped out his intestines?? That was the best part. C'mon, you are going to miss the decapitation. Where are you going?? Dammit!!" Maybe next time I'll just rent Titantic.

I think women should enjoy watching these movies for fun while sitting on the edge of their seat wondering what's next. However, the down side to this is that with Billy Loomis(a spoof) and Norman Bates characters becoming more and more popular in teen films women are increasingly becoming scared of acting like traditional trustworthy women and become defensive, cold-blooded, repressed, men wannabees.
You're not changing the target audience because I believe that women really want to feel sexy and desirable and that by a year or two we won't feel as though these films have ever changed a bit. But that doesn't mean that women don't want to see a strong babe in the lead. So do guys!
Hot girls that get into brutal, gory horror
films? I think it's TOTALLY cool. What I can
NOT stand are the prissy type that actually
LECTURE you like a mother would! My mom can't
stand em, and she thinks I'm sick! LOL! It
makes me laugh. Even one of my friends that
moved to Tennessee thinks I'm sick because
although she likes horror films she doesn't
"like that sick fuckin' shit" I like. Horror
girls are rarer than people think. I don't
mean Scream, or IKWYDLS, I mean, Evil Dead,
Exorcist, Fulchi films. Those are the kind
of girls that are really hard to find! LOL!

Wow, I feel sooo deprived having missed this great conversation LAST year. Damn, wish I could have talked to femme. OH well...
And to all you guys out there, be careful what you wish for. The last guy I dated? I was his perfect match, horror movies, wrestling, movie-making, music, etc. His parents said so, his best friends, everyone.
Then, he got freaked out and dumped me. Why? Couldn't handle an adult relationship and the fact that we were so much alike. I was his first, repeat first girlfriend. So , he
REALLY had some issues. (Still does from what I hear.) Point is, don't take for granted that horror-lovin' gal once you get her. You do your best to keep that relationship intact, providing she is a decent person and treat you right. We are a rare , and worthwile breed.
And for all those wondering, I'm a brunette femme fatale (always get called Lilith from Cheers or Elaine from Seinfeld.) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
Well, I thought I had a good catch. We both loved horror, wrestling, books, misc. other stuff. She dumped me last night 'cause she said we were getting too serious (we've been dating 3 years), and that she wasn't ready for committment. The moral here, is if you can find a good horror-loving woman (sounds like a country song) hold on for long as you can, 'cause you never know when it might end. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/frown.gif

Oh Kaos honey I'm soooooo sorry! I can't believe that! She sounds really confused. God, you have my condolensces. You will be strong and move on and be better than ever before.
And hey, if that is how she views committment, she was holding you down. You can do better. Trust me, I have been there.
There's an even better babe waiting in the wings.
Thanks skweemkween. Right now that means quite alot to me. No sarcasm or joking, just thanks for being there. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Don't you find that the darkside is like a suductive temptress.
When I think of horror I think of it as an ever surrounding mistress.
She is not dominated or controled she is inteligent and cruel and she will frightend the hue out of your skin.
You see my taste in women are gothic dark hair dark lip stick dark intentions.
So girls and horror mix light and dark we need the light but we also need the dark(more so for me and many of the rest of you).

I personally love horror lovin ladies. But, if they try too hard to be "horror" like all black and looking like they haven't left the house in 6 years, I don't like that. I think it's cool as hell when a girl who don't expect to be into horror to be able to carry a conversation with me for like a half hour or more. yeah, good times.

The shitty thing is my girlfriend has never really been into horror flicks but she would humour me... Then last summer her brother committed suicide and since then if there is too much blood she will no longer watch it... As for changing horror flicks to fit the 'female demographic' I don't think that is what is happening... I think what is happening is they are changing horror flicks to fit the 'teen demographic' trying to capatilize on the success of the American Pies and other god awful flicks...
As for having a girlfriend who is into horror, it doesn't quite matter to me... It would be cool but she has to take me for who I am... As for her, she must realize that I don't watch chick flicks or movies with Billy Crystal.

Personally, I love it when a woman loves horror films. I think it shows her intelligence, personality, and good taste. As a matter of fact, that is one of the things that I look for in a woman! If a woman knows who the fuck Jason Vorhees is, I am already in love with her http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif and hey, for the girls out there who love the horror genre and are ridiculed becuase of it...fuck em! The people who are calling you weird obvisouly have little or no self esteem, so I say fuck em, don;t worry about it, just let them go watch some shitty Ben Affeck or Julia Roberts movie and don;t worry what they think! Amen! (Ok, off my soap box now)

I feel alot like George Costanza felt in that one episode of Seinfeld. I feel like I am totally out of conversation, except the only thing he could talk about was sports, for me, it's films, mostly horror.
I would love a girlfriend that was into horror films as much as me, who loves watching them, reading them and writing them. Wouldn't make me fear her thinking I'm too weird and she would want to dump me. Any 16-year-old horror loving girls around that would like to chat?

Hmmm....REALLY? I`m beginning to think Corpse Candle and Dark_One may have more competition then!
Unless...of course.....something awful should happen to them and they dissapeared....
Anyways, I`ve had a few long-term relationships.....which always ended rather badly. None of them particulary liked horror, but they`d watch them with me. Right now I`ve been single for a while and I have an eight-month-old baby boy. Of course I`m not with his mother anymore (we have joint custody). It`s a little depressing raising him without a mother around, but he`s an awesome little guy and trust me he`ll be seeing lots of horror movies in the future!
And just to concur with what a few of you guys have said, usually when two people are TOO MUCH alike, it just doesn`t work.
