I loved the film, "Meet the Parents" and I thought that Robert Deniro and Blythe Danner played good parents to Teri Polo's character. So, for the upcoming sequel, who do you guys think should play Ben Stiller's parents, the Fockers??

Jerry Stiller and either ben's real life mom or the lady that was on seinfeld that was george's mom. That would be funny!!!

I think casting Stiller's real life folks would be a hoot. Ann Mera and Jerry Stiller are hysterical.

Kavan, you took the words right out of my mouth! I had this discussion with friends about a month ago, and that's what we came up with. (The second choice was Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft.) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif

I would love to see Mel Brooks play as his dad.

Rodney Dangerfield or Chevy Chase would be funny dads. I would think Gene Hackman or Warren Beatty would play well off of Robert DeNiro's character.
For his mom - I have no idea. Maybe Sigourney Weaver? Goldie Hawn?

My Dad (a movie fan just like me) and I were actually talking the other day; and we both agreed that Jerry Stiller (Ben's dad) should play his father in the movie. Mother... we had no idea. I guess his real mom would work... their chemistry would have to be great, wouldn't it?

Just for shits and grins.. how about either:
Harrison Ford or Arnold Swarzeneggar?
For the mom, I'm at a loss.. Ben Stiller's real mom would be interesting..

Come on fellow schmoes, you all know there's only one person capable of this role. And he was in the original scene in Annie Hall, where the first movie got its idea from, Christopher Walken! Think about the hilarity they could create putting DeNiro and Walken face to face again. Or maybe they'll go for a Rick Moranis type casting, which I really hope they won't.
As for the mother, that's a bit more difficult to cast, maybe someone like Linda Hamilton would be good as a iron type momma, but I don't think it would work after all...I got no idea...

I read in Entertainment Weekly quite some time ago that director Jay Roach would like either his real-life parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, or his parents from the film Flirting with Disaster, George Segal and Mary Tyler Moore.

What about Al Pacino playing his father? I bet he would be hilarious first of all and imagine De Niro and Pacino in a comedy together. Heat wasn't really anything. But these in a battle of wits. It would be cinematic history.
Dustin Hoffman and Carol Burnett.
I could see Joe Pesci and Racquel Welch in the parts, that pairing would give DeNiro loads of ammunition to play with http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
Also thought I'd mention the good news that Pacino is playing opposite DeNiro in Analyze That. Which means we'll get to see that pair in a comedy very soon hehe.

Where did you hear this? I know there was mention of a cameo role, a Pacino lookalike, and the rumor was they were trying to get Pacino to play it.

How about a Christopher Walkin/Goldie Hawn pairing? Or Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn?

Zing, that would be one hell of a great team-up. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
As for me, I'm not sure who to pick...anyone but Elliot Gould as Greg's dad. He was good in OCEAN'S 11, but I'm still shady on him. He could easily overplay the part, and I don't think such a risk should be taken.

I don't care who plays the parents because the 1st one sucked so much it left me with no intetions on seeing this movie.

It was mentioned on ET as in negotiations. Al Pacino has been approached to play an Al Pacino look-alike gangster in the sequel to Analyze This called Analyze That. It involves Deniro turning state evidence and entering the witness protection program.

Jerry Stiller would be hilarious. or Al Pacino would be cool. I would love to see Jerry or Al try to square off to Bobby De Nero.

I think Christopher Walken would be a very good choice to play Stiller's dad. Walken is a brilliant actor and should be in more comedies.

Eugene Levy as the Dad and Adam Sandler in drag as the Mom. Hey Focker, go play with your cock and balls. I smell an instant classic.

I like the Idea of Christopher Walken. It's a shame he is not in many movies. The last new one I can remember him being in was Blast From the Past.
Well that and his crazy dance in Weapon of Choice. CLASSIC!

Actually, it would be interesting to see what Arnold's reaction to "why did you name your son Gaylord Focker" would be, hehehe...
