This movie gets a lot of slack, but I personally loved it. i think it's a great follow-up to the firt one.
First of all, I think everyone looks better. Gale has her sassy short haircut, Sidney looks more secure and intelligent (I love that hair!)and last but not least, Randy's got that gottee thing going.
But before I turn this into a fashion reveiw, let me mention that when Williamson wrote the script, he knew just how the characters would say it. Therefore, the characters much more involoving. I've never really been a fan of Williamson's writing, in fact, I hate him for what he's done to the horror genre. But he is a good writer, although the movie references were getting old. Third, Wes Craven directed it, so the suspence is there. No, not like the first, but there are a few creative kills and tense moments. And I must be the only one in this world who liked the romance going on between Derek and Sidney.
So besides a funny, but mediocre opening and horrible acting at the end, I liked this one a lot. Almost as much as the first. Sure, the killer's come out of left feild, but that didn't really bother me.
Any more thoughts on this one?

It's because of this flick that I didn't bother with Scream 3. What annoyed me most was the ridiculous climax. The killers waxed idiotic for what seemed like an eternity. They had the perfect opportunity to knock off Sidney, but chose to explain their motives in detail before doing so. Good God, I'm glad that the slasher subgenre is temporarily dormant.

The first was great, people who put it down probably are to self involved to see what a great film it is. Every film steals from other films, essp. horror films, at least Scream admitted it!
As for the sequel--it was boring for the most part but did have some great scenes. The opening was good, as was Gale's chase scene and the scene with Sid and Halle trapped in the police car.

The scene in the police car was scary as hell. Really loved the bit on stage with them performing the play and one of the cast is wearing the wrong mask.

Ugh I remember seeing this in theaters and being highly disapointed. The killers are very obvious (I guessed them like halfway through) and they dont make a lot of sense, even when they are having their little monologues and basically being idiots when they could be killing the majorly annoying Sydney Prescott...
SPOILER!! SPOLIER DONT READ IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THIS MOVIE YET!

!
OK, Now I;'m going on emmory alone cause I havent seen this flick since i saw it in theaters but werent the killers Sydneys boyfriend guy and the teacher chick? How could that be possible? They're body shapes are nothing alike, The boyfriend is a large, strong, young male, and the teacher is a frail old lady. So how could they both be the killers and someone not notice the size diffrence between the 2

Actually, the boyfreind got killed. Mickey, the film student who argues about sequels with Randy, is the killer. And the other one is a news reporter who turns out to be Billy's mother. And how the hell did you suspect her?

SCREAM 2 (1997) Directed by Wes Craven. This film almost matches the original “Scream”, as Sydney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and her circle of friends are stalked and/or killed by a murderous psychopath (or are there more than one?) at an exclusive California college. Returning from the first film are: tabloid journalist Gale Weathers (Courteney Cox) and ditsy cop Dewey Riley (David Arquette), who team up with aspiring filmmaker Randy Meeks (Jamie Kennedy) to investigate the rash of spree killings. Also along for the ride are: Jerry O'Connell as Campbell's love interest; Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elise Neal, Portia de Rossi and Rebecca Gayheart as sorority sisters; Duane Martin as Gale's TV cameraman; Timothy Olyphant as a "freaky Tarantino wannabe"; Laurie Metcalf as a local reporter; Liev Schreiber as ex-con Cotton Weary; and Omar Epps and Jada Pinkett as the first two victims in the shocking opening sequence (which occurs during a movie premiere). Heather Graham, Joshua Jackson, Tori Spelling and David Warner appear in cameos. Action-packed from start to finish, well-developed characters and witty dialogue (as scripted by Kevin Williamson) punctuate this top-notch film. The sequence in which Gellar is stalked in her sorority house is reminiscent of such classics as "Black Christmas" and "When A Stranger Calls". The film's two minor flaws are O'Connell's cheesy cafeteria serenade and Campbell's corny dance number during theater class. Otherwise, an excellent sequel. My grade: A

I dont know Jason Slasher, I dont know if it was her acting, dialogue, or the way she showed up after the attacks from Ghostface, or just because she's the one to least suspect, or what but I remember suspecting that she was one of the killers from early in the movie. Allthough I didnt know anything about her being Billy's mom.

I watched all three and liked this one the best. The third one was more thrilling and had a better story, but I found myself enjoying this sequel alot better.
But I like them all and bought the box set after I rented them. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I liked it better then the first. The first is still good, but I didnt like it as much. Both had great openings though. And the ending isnt that bad. Not good, but atleast there is no slideshow thing going on. I did find Billys mom to have some corny lines though...

My opinion with this movie is the same as most other movies that only come out with 1-2 sequels. They just got worse and worse as it went on. I thought the first one was really really good. The second was ok, worth buying probably for cheap. The third I just thought sucked. Oh well!

Actually, I thought the opening movie-theater murder scene outdid Drew Barrymore's death scene in the original. As a matter of fact, I thought most of this sequel outdid Scream 1..... that is, until the ending.
SPOILER
Okay, I admit, the whole "Billy's mother" revelation really took me aback, but Mickey was pretty lame. First of all, his character didn't play enough of a role in the film for me to care that he was the killer. Secondly, his motive was pretty weak. At least Billy and Mrs. Loomis had pretty credible reasons for starting up a massacre.
Back when this movie was released, I heard some talk of the identity of the killers being changed because a script had leaked onto the internet. Do any of you guys know who the original killers were supposed to be? Hope it was some more daring choices than what they went with.... Gale and Cotton, perhaps?

Scream was one of my favorite movies, it scared the shit out of me when I first saw it (poor Steve). But Scream 2 just dropped the ball with the series. It started off cool as hell, the theater scene was cool, and it had a lot of really tense moments (police car anybody?). But the ending, and the revealing of the killers, really ruined this film for me.
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having Billy's mom as the killer was moronic. One of the stupidest plot twists they couldv'e done, and there's no way Billy's mom couldv'e pulled Randy into that truck. Micky was cool, but his motive was totally fucked, and it would never actually work. There are so many other ways they couldv'e went with this one.
SPOILERS ENDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for me.

The original killers were Hallie and Derek in a Mickey-and-Mallory-inspired murder spree. Another alternate ending (script-wise) involved Cotton turning on Sidney during the climax (for her imprisoning him), and they both wind up killing each other, leaving room for the third installment to start fresh.
**NOTE: Windsor University was actually in Ohio, not California.

Wow... thanks for the info, Escapade.
SPOILER
Y'know, I think I actually like the killers that they went with better. I mean, I think I'd probably be pretty indifferent to Hallie and Derek... just like I was to Mickey and Roman. At least Mrs. Loomis was surprising just because she came so far out of left field. I don't know whether it was a particularly good idea or not... I'm just saying that it got a reaction from me.
Either way, the writers never could live up to Billy and Stu.
