Geroge Romero has directed a commercial for the famous Resident Evil 2 (aka Biohazard 2) video game, but it's only shown in Japan. Check this site!

Has anyone else heard about that?

Yes , thats the reason he was supposed to direct the movie.Unfortunately politics took over and he was booted as we all know.

The commercial was supposed to be part of the hype for the film, but then Romero got the ax. For a long time i was the biggest hater of the movie idea becase of that, but i really enjoyed the end result. Resident Evil kicked Ass and now I'm happy he didn't do it because it might have took ideas away from Dead Reckoning.

What could have been.Even though the commercial was a little cheesy,i realize it was shot on a low budget,it looked pretty damn good,i wish he would have done RE,i have no doubt it would have been great.

I'm not complaining though, because i still appreciate what Anderson did with it.

it was pretty obvious that alot of people hated this movie b/c Romero wasn't attached to it. That's ridiculous though. Some people just need to lighten up and enjoy a freaking movie ya know. Anyways, that commercials pretty cool though.

I'm a huge Romero and Resident Evil fan and I'm outraged that Resident Evil is such a Romero inspired(rip off) game yet they fired him and got some other guy to make it and the movie turned out to be true shit. The trailer here is sooooooo much better than that awful, awful film. I want to buy the dvd just to destroy it.

Resident Evil was a kickass film and Romero is highly overrated. He did not invent the Zombie genre--there were quite a few zombie films dating back from the 50's and 60's that show where Romero got his ideas for his dead trilogy from.

I'm glad they didn't use his script and am happy the way the film turned out. Was it perfect? No. Would Romero had made it perfect? Nope.

He may not have invented the zombie film, but arguably he perfected it.He put it on the map, inadvertently mainstreamed it.Even high brow critics realize Night and Dawn(to a lesser extent Day),are not only excellent classic horror at it's best, but that they are excellent films, period.

He influenced so many others that came after him,and started a whole horror film movement, mainly independent, which is great.

As a previous post pointed out,he got fired from RE,but Anderson just hacked his work anyway.(But like i said,i still like the final product, just would have been better with GR)

GR was a maverick back in the days when he made the dead films,he proved you don't need a huge budget and major studio financing to create a highly entertaining, thought provoking, epic gore fest.

I love that independent spirit,it's one of the main reasons i'm such a huge fan of those 3 films(Dawn is his opus, his masterpiece).Everything was shot on location, they filmed on weekends because the crew had other "real" jobs during the week, everyone worked for peanuts,it was filmed in his home town(where he still lives.

Films like this just don't get made anymore, not on this scale, and with this much passion for the material.

The only one who has come close to exhibiting that same spirit somewhat recently(if 1985 can be considered recent),is JR Bookwalter, and his film Dead next Door.

So,i don't think GR is overrated,if anything he's probably underrrated.Ask any current horror director who some of his or her influences are,and most of them will cite GR.

Every time i go to a mall,i can't help but think about Dawn,it changed shopping forever.

Actually your wrong...previous to Romero, there were NO flesh eating gouls/zombies...."zombie" films b4 that were usually under the control of some mad scientist type or voodoo chap....Romero invented the Zombie Genre as it is commonly looked at today.
