I've always wondered how a movie can be violent but no gory. Examples???

Violence is more of an act against someone. Such as if a death were offscreen it would be violence.
But, if the death is onscreen and the blood and everything flies everywhere. That would be gore.
And the actual defenition of gore would be actual bits and pieces inside of a body, not just blood.

For example: Take a man that bashes someone with a metal ball (Rollerball) in the face, almost no blood is shed...or hitting someone with a bar's chair (Rollerball again) THAT is violence, Now, take this, someone gets skinned and dismembered...the bodyparts and the skin are shown, or someone is shoved into a food processor...THAT's gore...get it?
-Violence is the act of beating/hitting/bashing (Etc...) someone...
-Gore is the dish where the blood and the guts are shed...

Gore is a subdivision of violence. Gore is when Violence is portrayed graphically with more realism. Lets say someone gets shot and all you see is some red on that persons shirt. That is a violent scene with pretty much no gore. Now lets say the man got a shotgun blow to sthe stomach and his innards are spilling out everywhere. Thats Violence with alot of gore.

Gore means graphic.
Violence is not always explicit.
Examples :
Funny Games from Hanneke is very violent, mentaly spoken, I mean you don't see anything but you can imagine.
Dead Alive is pure gore.

Here's the simpliest way to explain these two things...
VIOLENCE is the same if some is getting beaten up, but there isn't some much blood.
GORE is the same if someone's head is getting blown with a shotgun splattering his/her brains and some blood all over the place.

Violence can be implied wheras gore just can't. For example : I think Seven to be one of the most violent movies i've ever seen. There is very little gore in the movie. But the brutality of the murders - especially the murder of the prostitute - although subtly implied is way more effective than actually showing you the murder itself. I've seen Braindead and think it to be the most gory movie i've ever seen. But it's nowhere near as violent as Seven.

its pretty much explained but violence can be suggested while gore has to be visual.
Scorpion King was frequently violent movie that had no gore, and you can say there are eps. of TV series er which have gore but no violence.
Its pretty easy to have one without the other.
