Are there any horror cartoons? Who watches them? Which are the best?

Scooby doos a horror cartoon isn't it? I seem to remember a horror cartoon from late 80's Saturday morning involving a monster camp of some sorets. Little were wolves and wee mummy's, stuff like that. How about Itchy and Scratchy?

Hmm..well I suppose the animated film Heavy Metal could be considered horror/fantasy at some points.
I know that the Japanese have some horror anime, but I don't know any titles, maybe someone in the know will chime in.

I enjoy both horror and cartoons, but in my experience the two don't mesh well. However, I would be quite happy if someone proved me wrong and made a good one.

I would suggest Invader Zimm...it kicks ass and makes fun of a lot of horror and scifi stuff..and also scary dog i think its called is a really spooky and funny cartoon http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
But if its real horror your talking about then may I suggest you check out Vampire Hunter D parts I and II...excellent stuff.

This is driving me crazy but I can't think of the title. There is a Japanese cartoon that is very much like a Dario Argento movie with wild colors and killings. I wish I could think of the title. There was also a cartoon in the mid 70's about Dracula, Frankenstein, The Werewolf and the Mummy who would all drive around in some van but I forget that title too. a Nightmare Before Christmas and Mad Monster Party are animated, but not cartoons as such.

Courage the cowardly dog has alot of horror elements. That scene with the insane barber who shaved him because he was "Naaaughty" scared the poop out of me. its a great show.

Perfect Blue is a great horror anime. A slasher with lots of psychological trips. Very recommended.

There's a horror anime called "Blue Seed", right? I saw the commercial just today...

Blue Seed came out in 1995. It's by the same guy who made Cat Girl Nuku Nuku and 3x3 Eyes.
Blue Seed is not technically true horror but does have horror elements. It's mostly action. But some of the monsters in the series are pretty creepy. Good anime series. One of my favorites. The DVD set (all 26 episodes, bilingual with English Subtitles) came out and is only $50! Me want!

Horror cartoons ???? forget about this crap and try the animes !! I mean no offense to you the americans but the japanese are a lot better to create some genuine creepy atmosphere and you don't realize you're watching a " cartoon ".
Examples : Ninja Scroll, Jin Roh ( purely and simply a masterpiece !!!!!!!! ) Akira ( James Cameron was influenced by this - one !! )
Blood : The Last Vampire and Perfect Blue ( think about a anime - giallo !! )

The only cartoons i've seen that earned the description of horror are of Japanese origie. That's with the exception of the Spawn cartoon and some episodes of the Batman cartoon. Has anyone seen the Return of the Joker feature length spin off of Batman of the Future. That contains some pretty harsh psychological torture stuff for a cartoon. Great stuff.

Ah, one of my favorite cartoons. The cartoons GBs didn't resemble their movie counterparts because the actors(Murray, Aykroyd, Ramis and Hudson) didn't want their likenesses being portrayed on a cartoon.
