I own the special edition in VHS and I wonder what are the added scenes ? What do these scenes bring ? Are they more informative or what ? I ask you that 'cause I don't remember of the old version.
Thanx.

there are quite few, heres just what i can remember at the moment....
~the opening scene with Ripley in the electronic garden taking about her daughter
~Newts parents and brother going to space craft with the aliens in it, then the dad gets infected
~all scenes of people on the planet before Ripley and the marines get there
~All scenes with the sensery guns (there are alot of scenes with them)
i know there are more, but this is all i could think of at the time, i'll look it up later http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

good question jason13thh,
in aliens special edition ripley states she has a daughter named AMY. but the ripley/daughter subplot was deleted from the movie so the burke/ripley convo was cut and the newt/ripley convo(in the ned lad when ripley is tucking her in bed) was trimed when ripley mentions her daughter
also in the drop ship when the marines aproche the colony HUDSON makes a "bad ass" speach to ripley and that was also cut out
the inquest(when ripley talks to van lewen in the board room toward the beginning)was also trimed down
also when ripley gets ready to rescue newt and she tells bishop not to leave, as she leaves the drop ship she exchanges words with hicks
ripley-"see you hicks"
hicks-"duane.......its duane"
ripley-"ellen."
hicks-"don't be gone long ellen"
this was also cut out for time
i have only really seen the special edition so i dont remember all of it.

Another part that stevereno missed is when Ripley, Bishop, Vasquez and Hudson are talking about how the Queen Alien is nesting, an in the original, it just has Ripley talking extensively.
In the Special Edition, Hudson suggests she is like a bee, and has her worker ants, he makes comments that were cut out but make his character a little more fleshed out.
The extensive cutting of the board room meeting doesn't show Ripley has been stripped of her pilots license.
It makes the Company all the more evil because all they care about is their expensive ships.
