I loved this film. It might just be the most scary film I've ever seen... it was very life life and realistic... it took me a long time (with the light on) to fall asleep!!!! lol that never ever happened to me! I was truely deeply terrified!!!

Pfft. This movie bored the fuck outta me. I was so mad that I even went to see it the first night. What I wanted was a Cryptozoology movie. What I got was a alien/guardian angel that you never see movie.

I prefer it this way.. When turned to horror one's own imagination can be far more terrifying than someone else's reality.
I havent seen the film in discussion however..

Yes, The Mothman Prophecies was great. However scariest movie of all time? Not exactly. It was really creepy, and suspensful, but scary? I didn't think so. Something scary to me is The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Changeling, etc... Anyway the actual story it's based on is some reallty creepy shit. When I got back from the flick I jumped on the computer and searched all over the net for information about the mothman... here's one I found, and put into the favorites (http://www.mothmanlives.com/indexFRAME.html)..., and it was really fuckin' creepy. I also got the book (Which is a must read by the way) and that's pretty creepy too. I've been praying that the Mothman visit me... But I'm just psycho.

Guardian angel? No no no no no.....not at all.
I don`t think the entity is benovelent (sp?).
NOT the scariest movie of all time....but this IS a really great movie. Great atmosphere, lots of mood, very effective performences from Richard Gere and Laura Linney (loved the phone converstaion scene between them), and the ending was jaw-dropping. Plus good music and cinetography.
P.S. -
movieDUDE68686:
If you thought the movie was that scary, then you absolutly MUST read the book by John A. Keel. It is much creepier than the movie - and it all really happened in Point Pleasant, WV in 1966.
I`ve read a bunch of this guy`s books. He`s not making this shit up, he`s actually something of a skeptic.
It is *the* creepiest book I`ve ever read.
Anyways dude, go out and get the book *now*. I gurentee it will keep you up at night!

Actually, a bunch of hogwash called "true evidence" was made just to promote this movie, such as Mothman warnings of the Chicago earthquake of 1951. The real Mothman never mutilated dogs or any animals, that was the Chupacabra. I just couldn't find this movie to be scary at all. Especially since I saw it in the theatre, I expected to jump at certain scenes, but it never happened. If you want a good Cryptozoology-related movie, then see Brotherhood of the Wolf.
