I just found a copy of Perfect Blue and took it home to watch it due to pychocandy mentioning it as an animated giallo in another thread. It was really good but like most anime does to me, it confused the shit out of me. Could anyone who has seen this and understood it explain the basic plotline? Thanks http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif. *spoilers*
I think it had something to do with her alternate image possesing her friend and trying to kill everyone who is disgracing the real mina inclusing the real mina. Ack its confusing.

*******************SPOILERS******************
Been a couple years since I've seen it, basically Mima quits the glam pop musical group she was singing with and her life really turns to shit.
She wants to be an actress but finds that to get what she wants she really has to do things she really doesn't want to do like being the victim in the rape scene of a movie, then the sleazy photographer lies to her about taking nude pictures ect. ect.
I don't believe the image of her alternate personality really posses her friend, I think like in most Giallos her friend is already really a couple fries short of a happy meal, the ghostly image is more of a visual reference top the possavility of Mima going insane.
Her friend (don't remeber her name) seeing Mima sinking to such levels only strenghtens her resolve to protect her friend even if it means killing anybody he has tarnished the "virginal" image from her singing days.
This is a great movie and I would highly recommend it to Giallo fan even if you are not a big Anime fan.
If you have a specific question let me know I'll try and post something with a little more meat.

Thanks Izombie http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif :
So that projection of herself is added on to by her own insanity so she sees herself as that prancing image?
