Hey guys, just curious, is there anyone else like me, whos a BIG horror fan, enjoys the gore, but in real life hates the site of anyones blood?
Am I just weird? other peoples blood turns my stomach!
Is there anything that really makes you squirm or feel sick?

For some Reason, the last month or so of horror watching has really affected me.
I blame that on my renting Henry: POASK. ANOTHER movie that I would never have rented If I didn't hear you guys talk about it.
Scenes that I really cant stomach are the ones involving dogs getting killed...
That REALLY makes me sick..

I can watch pretty much anything in a movie without flinching. However, when it comes to real life injury I go white as a sheet and get a shivery, queasy feeling. On a basic mental level I understand that what i'm watching on screen is not real. When I see a real injury though whether in real life or in the pages of a magazine (FHM magazine takes particular glee in showing stomach churning pictures) it really affects me. Guess i'm never gonna be an ER doctor or nurse. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif
There are some exceptions due to some movies succeeding in making the violence look extremely real. The teeth against the kerb kick to the back of the neck in American History X gets me real bad. When Henry stabs Otis in the eye then saws him up in the bath I get a queasy feeling. Even these feelings though are a faint reminder of how badly real life injuries affect me.
Guess i'm a wuss. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh absolutely, I hate when I'm flippin channels and come across one of those surgery in progress shows, freaks me the hell out...and it's weird cuz it all just looks like one big jumble of mush, I don't know how doc's can find anything in there!
I can handle it if it's real life I suppose. I worked in a factory once where a guy cut three of his fingers of on a binding machine, and in that case it's sort of like instinct takes over and ya just try and get the wound plugged and wrapped, and call 911, so there's not much time for freakin out.
Back in my traveling musician drug days, I had a gal die of a heroin overdose right in my arms, and right b4 she passed this geyser of blood popped from her nose ....that was terrible, I still have nightmares. Godamitt they should blow up all the poppy and coca fields. Godammit.

Yeah same here, Romero. The scene in "American Psycho" where Bateman kills that homeless guy's dog really pissed me the fuck off.

Thats funny, cause my best friend REFUSES to watch that particular scene! He'll watch the entire film, EXCEPT for the dog killing scene.
Although I wasnt much on the dog stompin, you have to admit the 'interrogation' scene he has with the bum is pretty hilarious!
But yeah, I understand why you dislike that scene. I didnt like the part in JAWS where that boy is calling for his dog on the beach and all you see is that stick on the shore.
I have to return some Videotapes....

Oh my god I am the biggest puss in real life when it comes to blood. Needles make me pass out and blood make me queasy.

blood/gore doesnt bother me,real or movies.the sight of limbs being broken does, only in "real life" however.
i also dont like watching animals being killed.that bothers me more than anything.
needles?,come at me with one,be ready to fight.

I definitely have a phobia of blood (especially the sight of my own, including shaving nicks & cuts), as well as needles; and I'm claustrophobic. I suspect that in a past life (yes, I believe in reincarnation), I was a vampire, and am suffering in this incarnation for my sins by means of these phobias.

Kinda like that comic freak from A Nightmare On Elm Street 5 who loved drawing gore but he couldnt look at a simple cut! Well, I'm not like that, but I remember one weekend where I had three real bad nosebleeds in two days and I mean BAD! Seeing that blood kinda freaked me out (Anyone recall the church scene in Children of the Corn II?)

The church scene was awesome (the movie sucked though).
Anyway I can take nearly everything, in real life and in movies except....eye injury..I can't watch that on movies or in real life without flinching.

I know what you mean about the kids/dogs/real-life blood thing.
I always fast foward past the part in Stephen King's IT where that little kid gets it in the beginning. Now I am getting all sad thinking about it...I need some stevereno/lady s. humour to cheer me up *goes to aliens spoof thread*

Real life blood doesn't bother me. What "wusses" me out though is when real fights break out between two drunken/pissed off/macho assholes or three, or four, etc.
Well, ok, it doesn't "wuss" me out it just makes me extrememly cautious and protective of everyone around me. I get really pro-active and want to break the fight up myself no matter how stupid that may be.
As for real life gore, if I saw someone in pain or dead (which I have) it doesn't make me sick, it makes me heart-sick. Especially animals. If you have no empathy for animals in pain, you do not have any reason breathing precious air on this earth....sorry, soapbox moment.

I remember sitting down to eat lunch at work and leafing through a copy of FHM magazine. I turn a page only to be confronted with a picture of some guy in Tibet hacking a dead body to pieces with a big fuck off knife. It turns out that in Tibet the ground is too rocky to bury the dead so they drag the bodies up into the mountain and hack them into small chunks for carrion birds to make short work of. My lunch hit the bin faster that you can say "where's the toilet i'm gonna barf". I definitely cannot look at stuff like that without wanting to toss my cookies. But a scene in a movie where someone is hacked into small pieces by someone wielding a large knife would not bother me (well...except for the scene at the end of Henry where he disposes of Otis but I can still watch it).

The only times I ever really felt like a "wuss" was when I was being yanked from the birth canal and the time I accidentally witnessed my Grandmother inserting a suppository. Been great ever since!

Heard once that a customer ordered an item with beef in it, bit into the item (which will remain nameless) and bit into a blood sac that was still intact after cooking and it exploded sending a spray of blood all over said customer's face. Naturally, there was a law suit.THIS is why I have been a vegetarian for 11 years. You may resume your lunch. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

The thing is, I am really freaked out by other peoples blood, but when it comes to a serious matter I can cope with it! My mate cut her leg badly while drunk on holiday a few years back and I had to hold the cut together til the doctor arrived, cant believe I did that!!!!
Im claustrophobic too, Antonio. BIG STYLE!

Yeah, same thing here. I can watch anything horrory on the TV but the real life injuries just make me wanna PUKE. I posted a sick link here. But if you don't know the link I'm not gonna bother advertise it.

Yup, i am so claustrophobic. I also hate needles. Ugh..when i see someone getting an injection in a movie and it does this close up of it (like in halloween 2 when laurie gets the sleeping injection)...I close my eyes..If i see blood in real life it makes me queasy..one time i passed out cuz i saw a lot of blood. It makes me so sick. And when animals get killed in movies. It is so sad and disturbing.
