"Gladiator" has been forgotten as far as I am concerned. This movie just blew me away. Maybe in the morning, or next week, it'll be one that I can't remember but I don't think so. I got out of the theater an hour or so ago so it is still fresh in my mind and still making me a bit giddy.
Wow. I'm just going to leave it at that for now.

I think it is good, very good. It doesn't set much new ground in the epic/war genre (very similar to Braveheart in some instances), but it does everything well. Gibson and Ledger turn in magnificent performances as does the Cornwalis's crony.
I was discussing with a friend the scenery in the film, and I feel this is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much. I'm from the South (US), and the locales they filmed, to me, are absolutely breathtaking.
It made me forget all about "Gladiator." Since it is really damn early in the morning I'm sure I have forgotten something. I threw up a blurb in the Schmoes section of JoBlo's review that probably is a bit more inclusive.

PackBacker, I liked The Patriot. I'm glad I went with my friends. At first, I was reluctant to go becuase It seemed like your usual war movie, but it was good. I liked Gladiator better, though. Were you frightened by the cannon ball flying at the screen? I was scared shitless!

Hehe...I shuddered just thinking what it would be like fighting in that war, or any war for that matter. You would shoot, then try and reload as fast as you can... which isn't fast enough as a cannonball comes smashing some body part off! You pretty much know you're going to die if you're anywhere near the front lines!
Anyway, I really liked this movie a lot. We rated it a 5 out of 5, which is a "Must see!!! Go Now!!!" movie. I personally thought it was better than Gladiator. A full review can be seen at our site, MovieGurus.com @ http://www.moviegurus.com

Ah f**k!! The cannon ball got me - made me duck, dump popcorn all over the place, elbow my girl in the face and kick the guy in front of me in the back of the head. A great shot!! I thought the movie was excellent - all aspects, hands down. They say (whoever "they" are) that parts of the movie lacked historical accuracy... I say, "who gives a flyin' fling flang-a-jang?!" It's not as though it effected the flow, or the story, or anything for that matter. Look, if you ask me, if they represented history accuaretly on all accounts, at all times - most movies would not be enjoyable. I would much rather enjoy a movie based loosely on facts, than a documentary...

Yeah it was pretty fresh! Gibson is an outstanding actor who does a great job at portraying pain.
And the cannon ball shot was too sweet!

Oh boy I LOVED the patriot... i think it's the best movie of the year so far... I hope it will win the Oscars for Best Picture... I liked Gladiator a lot too, but The Patriot has so much more than Gladiator, it's sweet, it's emotional, and it's funny sometimes too... it's a really awesome movie!!!!!
i doubt if it will when best picture, because its pretty much Braveheart with pants!
