What a triumph...* Tom Green has become the person to make a movie that with the most number of zero-star ratings from critics.* As I read the reviews from mainstream critics, I can't help but laugh at their desperation...* I have never seen a movie being bashed so brutally by 99% of the film critics!* This is a milestone in Hollywood, and I have collected some quotes from film critics, enjoy!
"This movie doesn't scrape the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't the bottom of the barrel. This movie isn't below the bottom of the barrel. This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with barrels." ~ Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times (0 star)
"Words like abomination and travesty don't do this movie justice. Sitting through Freddy Got Fingered was one of the most depressing experiences in my 10 years of reviewing films. It's not even enjoyable on a campy level. It's just bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad... I'm just sorry there's nothing nasty enough that I can write in this review to suitably repay everyone involved in the ruination of 90 minutes of my life. I have gotten better entertainment value from a colonoscopy." ~ James Berardinelli, Reel Views (0 star)
"Green is just plain annoying as Gord, a one-dimensional caricature of himself. Gord's hyper-idiot, slacker laziness represents only the Dr. Jekyll of Green's Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hype appeal. Without his good-natured, self-deprecating nerdiness, Green is little more than a clueless, unsympathetic moron." ~ Robert K. Elder, Chicago Tribune (0 star)
"Some greedy idiot at that studio gave Green carte blanche to make his own movie, hoping brainwashed teenagers would flock to see it no matter how bad it might turn out to be. All I can say is, I hope that studio exec has been fired... Tom Green is nothing but a walking, talking schtick." ~ Rob Blackwelder, Splicedwire (0 star)
"Marking the low point of a year where many comedies are failing, the film will hopefully (but unlikely) not only be the end of such gross out comedies, but also of Green's movie career. Whatever you do, don't go out and reinforce this abysmal material with your hard-earned dollars. Instead, let it die and rot the cinematic death it rightly deserves. An insult and embarrassment to filmmaking, comedies and even gross-out pictures, "Freddy Got Fingered" rates as a 0 out of 10, and even that's being generous." ~ Screen It (0 star)
"The only reason I didn't walk out of Freddy Got Fingered is due to a personal code of ethics that I hold which prevents me from reviewing a film that I don't see in its entirety. Perhaps it is time to rethink that policy." ~ Michael Elliott, Movie Parables (0 star)
"The politically incorrect, scatalogically layered, ultra-juvenile school of comedy has hit bottom. That's where we find Freddy Got Fingered... That's Green's greatest offense -- wasting energy and celluloid on a movie that fails to generate a single snicker." ~ Jack Garner, Rochester Democrat & Chronicle (0 star)
"Freddy Got Fingered is, by far, one huge stinking, steaming turd of a movie without a single redeeming gutbusting gag in its entire length. Nothing has come close to inflicting the kind of utter boredom that Green has in his alleged comedy... Someone should lock Tom Green in a room with a big blackboard and an even bigger piece of chalk and force him to write "I am not a funny person" over and over again. Until he gets it." ~ Cranky Critic (0 star)
"That it got made is itself amazing, and I'm sure the people responsible for that will someday go to hell. Then again, just watching "Freddy" is like being in hell." ~ Steven Rosen, Denver Post (0 star)
"Short of giving "Freddy Got Fingered" the dubious honor of easily being the worst film released in what has so far been a bad movie year, there's not a whole lot more to say. Even with a thesaurus, there are only so many ways to say that a film is not only excruciating but also sickening and unfunny... Speaking of embarrassing and humiliating, everyone involved (besides the evidently shameless and possibly pathological Green) should be chastised for having anything to do with this hastily assembled hodgepodge, which makes the earliest, gross-out works of John Waters look like cinematic masterpieces." ~ Jeff Vice, Deseret News (0 star)
"But a symphony of strings couldn't mask the mindless meanness of this anti-entertainment, which doesn't push the limits of taste so much as the limits of how bad a movie can be... As shocking as such sadism sounds, the abject failure of Freddy shouldn't shock us -- not coming from Green, a talentless man who's parlayed a high-profile union with Drew Barrymore, an MTV following and his screaming, gonzo stance into what should be his sole shot at stardom on his own." ~ Bruce Westbrook, Houston Cronicle (Grade: F)
"In his new movie, Freddy Got Fingered, there are two ways to take Tom Green. You could consider him a punk performance artist – ignoring rules and smashing conventions in pursuit of some liberating breakthrough. Or you could call him a postmodern geek – a guy who will eat, say or do anything to lead a celebrity lifestyle... Moviegoers, however, are much more likely to go with the "geek" tag." ~ Tom Maurstad, Dallas Morning News (Grade F)
"But be warned that if you have a conscience at all, if you're any more enlightened than the goons who sat two rows in front of me and cackled like stoned hyenas at everything that was plastered on the screen in front of me, you may come away feeling like you sold a little part of your soul for the sake of enjoyment... Freddy Got Fingered is probably the ugliest, meanest film I've seen in a long time." ~ Rob Morlino, Matinee Megazine (Grade F)
"Freddy Got Fingered isn't remotely an outrage. It's a disaster, a case of a freakish yet dangerously one note personality too besotted with ego to understand that there's got to be more to a feature length comedy than his own mocking, seething, look at how smart I am about being stupid self." ~ Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly (Grade F)
"If you go to see this movie, Green will earn the money to make another one. That's between you and your conscience." ~ Liz Braun, Toronto Sun (No Rating Given)
"In a year that has seen no shortage of potential candidates, Tom Green's "Freddy Got Fingered" has the dubious distinction of being quite possibly the worst comedy ever made. It's not just bad; it's jaw-dropping, head-pounding, tumor-inducing, apocalypse-summoning bad." ~ Michael Rechtshaffen, Hollywood Reporter (No Rating Given)
