Scream, it's an OK movie but man has it DESTROYED 90's horror.

Cyclonus

Candyman 3!

Not only is it one of the worst movies I ever saw, it ruined the legend of the title character! (at least part 2 was respectful!) http://www.joblo.com/ubb/mad.gif

This is a good one...I'd probably remove Nightmare on Elm Street. That way we wouldn't have any of the lame sequels and Scream probably wouldn't have been made.

I going with TCM 4 as well. This truly is a horror of a horror film. I have a feeling that some of the cast members feel the same way... Heh heh... you know it's just killing those bastards...

Sphere. One of the cleverest books I've ever read turned into one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen.
ENDING SPOILER:
It's a shame they didn't wish the entire movie out of existence.

Scream is the movie that created the mass attack of teen slashers, so I would erase it.

I have to agree with you guys on Scream. I never finished TCM 4, I got bored.

I'd remove THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, since its success spawned a countless number of imitators, even on television!

Stefan
01-17-2002, 02:14 PM
"Cathy's Curse." It was so extremely boring that I got a headache through three quarters of the film. It was such s torture sitting through this film. Stefan's out.

Cyclonus is right...Candyman 3 is the worst installment in the series and Donna D'Erico needs to be told that she just can't do horror.

The re-make of Carnival of Souls needs to be blanked out of existence as well. Wes Craven should be ashamed of himself for allowing his name to be attached to such a pile of dross.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Part 2.

If they didn't make part 2 they wouldnt have tried to fix the series with part 3, then there would be no part 4.

Don't you mean part 3?

01-17-2002, 09:54 PM
Um...if you wished Scream out of existence, there wouldn't BE a horror genre in the 90s. Like it or not, Scream was the first step in making horror accessible to a wider audience. Yes, there were countless imitations (well, about 5), but Scream's success also made producers look at other forms of horror that they could possibly exploit. If Scream hadn't been made I'd dare say we'd still be getting shite like Bordello Of Blood or stuff that just plays horror for laughs.

I have a few movies that I wish were not made...

-Scream 2

-Scream 3

-I Know What You Did Last Summer

-I STILL Know What You Did Last Summer - Shouldn't it be named "I Still Know What You Did Two Summers Ago"?

I could go on, but mainly all the Scream sequels/90% of the slashers that came out after it... I really enjoyed the first Scream though. It's the only one I have on DVD.

What if perhaps Scream hadn't been made, don't you think someone else would've gone and made some other "hip" movies. Considering the times I'd think that by now the teen slasher sub-genre would have started up. And I think the only way to get rid of it would be having to up-root the slasher genre by removing Halloween. And I could never say I want Halloween to be removed, because that would be removing one of the greates horror films of all time. So in conclusion this whole teen slasher thing was un-avoidable. But if I was to remove a movie it would be What lies Beneath then I could have that wasted time back.

What Lies Beneath was supposed to be a horror movie?! Hahahahhahahahahahhahaha

Good choice on taking that one out, same with Halloween 3 (grrr I hated that movie oh so much).

Yes, exactly, I'm in agreement and that was something I myself was going to bring up. Also, p1phillips made a valid point as well, that parallels the unavoidable factor, in that Scream changed the course/trend of horror.
Here's a few I'd remove:
Critters 3 & 4
Halloween 5
Friday The 13th Pt. 5
Ice Cream Man
All TCM sequels

While I wish most every horror movie made recently could removed from the horror genre, the worst of the lot is VALENTINE. God, I wish I could have my time and money back.

Halloween 3 should be taken out and burned. Then they should take the Lady In White and put that in the suspense catagory.Nothing horrific about that flick!!!!

I really could not give "Scream" or it's clones, the time of day and I do not agree that it did any good for horror, in fact such a statement is a terrible disrespect to the genre. I found much satisfaction with horror movies before Scream came into careless mindless creation. All it did was bring a wider Trendy horror audience not a real appreciative respective horror audience and there is a difference. Scream flat out reeks to the point that you see a black cloud in the sky coming forth and this is a horde of flies waiting to find a host to hatch it's maggots. It is an ignorant nothing of a film that lacks, heart, intensity, depth and substance not to mention the humor was boring and dry. It is a waste of time piece of garbage that not even a Custodial Engineer is paid enough to dispose of. It is a film that could not even achieve a compelling honest comment in which makes the viewer excited about what they are about to watch.

Scream was good. Its imitations were not good. It's that simple. If it weren't for the rubbish that came after Scream, I don't think that 2001 would have been such a solid year for horror. It's dreck like ISKWYDLS that makes filmmakers want to create something different and interesting. The recession was necessary. If it wasn't for shit, we wouldn't have gold.

Good question! I don't know, you can look at this several different ways.

1) You could get rid of a movie that was simply bad, so that you wouldn't have been subjected to it.

Example: Satan's Cheerleaders

2) You could get rid of a movie that was imitated a countless number of times, so that there wouldn't be tons of crappy imitations.

Example: Scream, and the whole teen horror craze. I actually didn't mind IKWYDLS but there's always crap like Urban Legend 1 and 2, ISKWYDLS, and Disturbing Behaviour

3) You could get rid of a movie which spawned a number of horrid sequels.

Example: Leprechaun. Actually, I'm surprised that no one has picked Leprechaun yet. Soon enough, I'm sure.

I'm just going to shut up now, and pick one.

After careful deliberation, I have decided on Friday the 13th. Don't get me wrong, I liked the movie, but I don't think that the whole concept is that spectacular, there were a few bad sequels (Part 8, that means you) and without Friday the 13th we would have never had BLOODY MURDER!

You know what, I'm going to change my answer to Bloody Murder. I like the Friday movies too much to get rid of them, and Bloody Murder was one BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD movie.

I know people will kill me for this, but HALLOWEEN.

It was a great movie, and that's why I'd remove it. I think it would be interesting to see how the horror genre would have turned out without it.

And to prove some points, the removal of PSYCHO and BLACK CHRISTMAS would show some people what horror would really be like wthout them!

ParileseMonster
01-18-2002, 08:54 PM
You can say that again Jason!!! I agree with that and I also still stand that the removal of Scream and it's clones would prove far more fruitful for horror and it's fans. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

Sorry, but Halloween 3 is a damn classic, and is easily the second best film in the Halloween series, right after the original! The statement that it should be burned is absurd. This film is wonderful, and that is my opinion. The same thing goes for the great BWP and Black Christmas.

Anyhow, I would also erase Scream, because it was awful dreck that caused even more awful dreck.

HALLOWEEN 5 and HOWLING II. The movies would be a better place if those two pieces of dog excrement never existed.

Hakari, HOWLING 2 WAS A DISGRACE. The scariest thing was Christopher Lee in jeans. Ughh!!(Sorry, Chris)
I've heard of thigh boots but not crotch boots.
Annie McEnroe made a poor heroine and there was no tension in that film. They must have put a gun to Chris Lee's head to get him to recite the tripe they gave him...
Oh God, my brain hurts to think I actually rented that movie.
IT IS A COMEDY, NOT HORROR!

Halloween III. (The worst movie I've seen in my whole life)

I agree that without Scream there wouldn't be a horror genre in the 90's. I'm a big fan of the series and I also like the other horror movies that came after it, mainly Joy Ride and the Urban Legend series.

The Shadow

Halloween 3 was awful...but I liked seeing Stonehenge (a very crappy one) in the movie at least. That place is so cool. Also the song was kinda catchy. I found myself singing along and bouncing my head to it a few times.

Happy Happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Happy Happy Halloween, Silver Shamrock!
