direct a horror flick...
I personally would love to see Spike Jones tackle a horror flick and for some sick, twisted reason, would love to see Marilyn Manson direct a horror flick
personally, I get tired of all these music video directors trying their hand at horror to pad their resumes, but I's love to see these two give it a shot...

I'd love to see Quentin Tarantino direct a horror movie.. I'm a big fan And I heard there was rumor that he almost directed Halloween 6.. It's a shame, maybe he could have done a lot more with it...

He did do a horror movie. Remember HOOK? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
I'd love to see David Mamet take on a horror film in the future...He is doing a JEKYLL & HYDE project the last time I heard, but I dunno if that'll be more drama or horror.

Steven Spielberg directed Jaws.

As scary as Jaws is, it's more of an adventure film, with a few enormously scary moments.

I wanna see Martin Scorcese or Francis Ford Coppola do a slasher.
Hooray for me.

Were he still alive today , Akira Kurosawa. I loved his movies.
Alive? Mel Brooks. Seriously. Not a parody like with Young Frankenstein, a serious one.

i would like to see busta rhymes direct a horror flick i think he would make a michael myers one and have pass the cavisier song in it and hit michael over the head with it or he would sing "Hey michael pass the cavisier" i think that would be funny.

Yeah, gotta agree with the Spike Jonze call. He would definitely deliver something twisted.
Hmmm, what about Wes Anderson? Such a keen eye for detail and understatement. Hmmm.

Tarantino directed From Dusk Till Dawn. I suppose it could be argued that that's not really a horror flick.
Spielberg did Jaws and Poltergeist.
I'd like to see David Lynch tackle the genre. He's come close to it several times, but never really made the full thrust in to Horror.

I'd love to see Darren Aronofsky do a balls to the wall horror movie. I know that both Pi and Requiem For A Dream were disturbing but neither were horror movies. Imagine what he would do with a zombie movie. Or a Vampire movie. He's one of a handful of Directors that I would trust to do an intelligent adaptation of the best horror novel ever written...I Am Legend. His movies thus far have benefitted from the apparent understanding he has of the human psyche and how easy it is for someone to snap under significant pressure.
The other Director's i'd like to see tacke this project are David Fincher or George Romero.

Actually Robert Rodriguez directed From Dusk Till Dawn. Tarantino did pen the screenplay though.

You'll sort of get your wish. Aronofsky has been involved in the production of Below, a tale concerning a haunted submarine. He won't be directing, though.

Yeah...I heard that. I'm looking forward to Below. Coming from Twohy and Aronofsky it's gotta be a goodun. I've liked all their movies thus far. Cheers. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

John McTiernan (Die Hard: With a Vengeance, the Hunt For Red October, Die Hard, Predator... )
Most top directors have done hybrid horror films, not pure horror though.

THAT'S who I was intially trying to think of! God! forgot about him. Yes, that would make for a very , very engrossing one. Something along the line of a Coen Brothers movie but with the gore of an Italain zombie pic.

I know, it would be something, wouldn't it? I prefer my movies to be a little right of the mainstream, and Anderson's films are just that.

Here's another one Dark_One:
Todd Soldans or Soldnes or whatever that directed the fabulous WELCOME TO THE DOLL HOUSE and HAPPINESS.
Now THAT would be "somewhere to the left of whoopee*."

~Candyman~ Scorsese directed Cape Fear. Some people think of it as a slasher.

Thought of another one:
John Sclesinger. He has done some great human dramas, so an unhuman drama would be next for him.

I think Terry Zwigoff (GHOST WORLD) could make an interesting horror movie. He uses a lotta cool "something in the background that you can't really see, but is important in the next scene" shots (sounds dumb, but it's cool to watch). I think he could give us something on a Hitchcockian level.
