View Full Version : There should be a distributor/production company who only make horror movies.

If anyone was smart enough to start such a company, they would surely make money. Just budget every movie at 10 million, create a good trailer and then release it in 2,000 theaters or more and their films would never lose money. You think that someone would have already thought of this.

Well, they aren't necessarily big budget pictures, but Full Moon is devoted to the genre.

Yea, I'm glad Full Moon is still around but I wish they would hire some more independent directors and lose the puppets. Gawd, they need some fresh meat over there.
I wish there was some millionaire that would invest in this and hire folks to do nothing but this. That would be great.

You've just described Full Moon... except for the budget and theater release part. They only have one real good thing going for them and that's Puppet Master, but their starting to ruin that too. The 8th installment better be 90 times as good as 'Retro'.

Okay, first off to answer bluegopher's query: no production company in its right mind would devote itself solely to one genre. Yes, we fans all wish one would, but these companies have to make a profit out of their product, and there just isn't that big an audience (on a worldwide scale, mind) for horror flicks. So production companies will produce whatever they can get their greasy little hands on.
2) I'm a huge fan of Full Moon & the PuppetMaster series (I've reviewed several of their films for Mojo's website), but bear in mind the good people at Full Moon are also selling toys. Towards the end the films they were producing look like advertisements for their latest line in action figures. Don't knock it, they're just out to make a buck.
Like anyone in the film industry...
