In email responces in his own words:
It's a movie discussion board and as long as the conversation is about
movies in some way, it's all good by me. We do live in a democracy after
all....free speech and all that....

Wait... I don't get it thingsgoinon... Are you in favor of a boycott? Or no? Sorry, I'm at work and a little tired. I respect your opinion, I'm just not sure what it is. Sorry.

I doubt very few drug addicts turned out that way because they saw someone doing it in a movie, and even fewer because it was mentioned on a message board.

If you want to do something about the drug problem, I would suggest that there are better ways to do it than making a JoBlo into a scapegoat.

I believe he is saying he wants everybody to boycott JoBlo.

Although I completely agree with him. I really did not like the thread in which people were glorifying drug use. That is something I am not in agreement with. I'm glad that thread was closed. However, it doesn't really matter. First of all, I'm pretty sure the majority will not agree with him. Second, if they don't talk about it here people will talk about it somewhere else. I don't think boycotting this website will do much.

Shit... I should have read more carefully.

The only thing I have to say is...

It's that freedom and democracy that lets you express your feelings that a boycott is in order. Your fighting against your own rights. It says right in the rules that people must be at least 13 AND be mature. JoBlo is not condoning drug use in children... If that's where the discussion goes, as long as it is about movies, that's where it goes.

I'm sorry, I have to disagree with a boycott and I have a feeling 99% or more of others will ignore the idea.

But I do respect you for standing up for your beliefs... I mean no disrespect.

I'm not boycotting this fine messageboard just because some people wished to express themselves.

A lot of people describe crap films as "gay" and not many people complain about that.

well,i for one agreed with things in that thread.however,im not sure a boycott will solve anything.
im glad that it,the thread, was closed.
its up to joblo, arrow and the mods to decide what topics stay, what topics go.
as for the glorification of drug use.if individuals start using because of what they read or hear, then they deserve the hardships it brings them.im not a parent, and i refuse to do the job some parents wont.
the finger-pointing gets tiresome.

It's not a boycott if you just get yourself kicked off for being an ass. The point is... Children see shit EVERY DAY. We can't censor everything. It is good that the threads got closed (maybe), but boycotting does NOTHING. I think keeping kids excited about movies eats some of their time up from having the chance to run into situations that would actually cause them to try drugs. Don't be rude man, people just don't agree.

How many damn forums is this topic in? I havent clicked on the "drug" topics because I dont have any interest in drugs. One of my best friends is a former crackhead, he owed a large sum of money to some people because of his problem and they tried to kill him over it. Luckily I provided the money and bailed his ass out, and since then im afraid of drugs because I've seen the effects of what it can do to people and their lives. That doesnt mean people have to censor their right to freedom of speech though. Drugs are bad, but people still do them and talk about them. No one can stop them from doing it, and a boycott certainly wont do anything either. Let the people have their freedom of speech, just dont go into those topics and dont let it bother you. People are free to do what they want, if you dont like it, turn your back and go your own way, dont try to pull people along with you just because you feel its the right thing to do.
