Hi. I was looking through many of the posts that have to do with Stephen King's Storm of the Century or just his movie adaptations and I noticed that epople hate the ending. I really dont get why. It seems like all of King's stuff end really depressingly. Secondly I like the moral dynamic it sets up. Ar e they wrong or right for letting him take one child in exchange for the rest of the children living.

Also who thought that scene at the end where his turns around obviously converted was creppy as Hell

I also thought that one shot of the small rowing boat with Croatan was poignant for some reason.

I was extremely happy with this movie. I loved everything about it. It was strange that it was good since it wasn't based on one of King's books (he wrote the book AFTER the screenplay was finished and I believe after the movie itself aired) but all in all I really dig story theories of what happened to Roanoke Island (SOTC, Phantoms, etc.)

Well, I loved the mini, but i was SLIGHTLY disappointed with the ending. It was a little sudden. Nothing against the story, or anything...I think the actual shots were too short. They should have paced that sequence a tad slower, maybe.

I thought the ending was wonderfully bleak. I don't get which shots you thought were too short. In my opinion the conclusion was pretty damn leisurely. I loved the ending and consider this to be the best Stephen King mini-series (just slightly above The Stand which was also magnificent).

Yes, the ending is a bit tame when compared to the rest of the movie, but it IS one of the best damn mini-series ever to air on regular TV.
