Damn! That would be a really down note to leave the movie on, but it would have fit the mood of the movie better. I would LOVE to see it though!

Hmmm...the one we were left with seemed too "easy." Still, if what you said was true...that would be a bit much.

SPOILLERS*******
It was already a "down" endeing because the world was coming to an end, so i liked that some of the characters survived the situation we saw them in. Though Peter and Fran probably didn't make it too far, but it was great that romero didn't show us them dying because it still gives fans hope that they "could" have lived and not died when the chopper ran out of fuel.

I think it was best for at least a few people to survive, it shows that life goes on after even the worst of tragedies.

NOTLD SPOILERS
Aye, but remember, every dies in NOTLD, and that was a stunning film. Sometimes having an extremely "down" ending can lead to a very powerful film.

The most upsetting part of that is when the helicopter engine dies out, most likely because there wasn't any fuel left. Maybe this is meant to symbolize the hopelessness and tragedy of the human condition.

Im not to sure which Zombie film it is but the president launches a nuke and it destroys half of the united states, that was a good ending even though everyone died.

I like the idea at least a few people surviving in the face of total anarchy. ~~Had the alternate ending been used, it would leave you with the impression that nobody survives, which would fuck up Day.

I wouldn't mind seeing this ending. I'm sure it was done well if it was ever filmed with Tom Savini's FX. I like both versions of the end. But I think I dont mind the original with them surviving. Peter was too likeable and you got to know him too well to see him die.
