"May 6, 2002... At the second Star Wars Celebration held this past weekend, producer Rick McCallum all but confirmed the involvement of a certain X-Men actor in Episode III. When McCallum was asked a question by a fan about the rumor that actor Hugh Jackman might be starring in SW3, McCallum said "I can't say much, but yes - he will be involved." [Scooped by Ted, 'JT-21', 'lstuart' and Devin; also confirmed by TheForce.net.]"

Goodness, I always though Hugh would be the next Clint Eastwood, maybe he'll be te next Harrison Ford (long shot)....

THe first thing i know were going to hear is

"This scoop is bullshit!"

go on say it, i double dare ya motha! Accualy i don't care, being specticle is part of the job, right? Anyways, any opinions on the matter? If e is involved, what kinda character would he be? Good, bad, ugly?

You know, I don't want to assume anything, but usually, Rick McCallum is the first one to say rumors are fake. When, before EPISODE ONE, it was said Charlton Heston would do Yoda's voice, he directly said NO, he wouldn't. When it was rumored Leo DiCaprio or Ryan Philippe would play Anakin in AOTC, McCallum was the first to officially say NO, George Lucas would prefer an unknown.

So if this time he says YES...there might be some truth to the story. And just imagine that -- Wolverine the Jedi? YEEPEE! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif

I'd love to see the guy in a SW movie. He can make the most fantastic storylines credible. (eg, X-Men, Swordfish)

That's what I suspected, but he doesn't seem the type of actor for Moff.

Gabriel Byrnes seems to be the type for Tarkin. I think he'll (Jackman) probably play a new guy since it doesn't seem like there are many OT roles he would be suitable for

I've heard rumours floating around that Byrne is still up for a part in Episode III.

Gabrial Byrne would be great in Episode three, that rumors been flying around for a while now, but i thought it was proven wrong a while back, oh well.

I was thinking about that too. If Hugh would act and talk like Peter Cushing, and try to get his strong cold look, then all he'd need is a little make up to dig in his cheekbones, and he'd be a perfect Moff Tarkin!

lets do a little look see...

I think he can pull it off, though he is much much more built, even for a young Moff

This is still speculation though. He may play another character for all we know.

Heck, he may even play a Jedi, but I doubt that very much.

Folks, Episode III will be the real deal, it's already said to have an "armageddon", plus Anakin becomes Vader.

Let's just hope Lucas improves again!

P.S - That's Peter Cushion who plays Moff one of Christopher Lee's old (dead) best friends (they both starred in a lot of hammer horror films).

This is from imdb.com:

George Lucas has reportedly approached Australian actor Hugh Jackman to star in third Star Wars prequel. Fans who attended the "Star Wars: Celebration" convention in Indiana claimed they overheard producer Rick McCallum discussing the cast for Episode III. X-Men star Jackman is said to be considering a villainous role in the forthcoming movie, which is set to be released in 2005.

I coulda sworn that character had another name. My bad, I guess.

Maybe he'll be a wise-cracking wealthy gamber/smuggler named Par Solo who builds the Millineum Falcon for himself but loses it to a young gamber named Lando Calrissian, but not before he helps Obi-Wan out and introduces him to his 10 year-old son Han.

Or is this just me dreaming...

There's an article over at TheForce.net that states this is false rumour....I thought it was a shitty casting call. There's no way he could play a character like that. I expect a million other silly casting rumours like this over the next two years.... It's always the same...

Thanks for clearing the spelling of his name up James, I thought I was wrong, but couldn't be bothered checking, being as it was, 2 a.m when I typed it. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/wink.gif
