A year ago I didn't really like the original Halloween but now it's on my top 5 of the greatest horror movies of all time. Psycho is a fantastic film but I didn't like it at one time either, try watching it again and try and notice why everyone believes this film to be amazing, that's what I did for Halloween.

Halloween. I respect the movie's influence on tons of other films, but I just don't like it.

The exorcist doesnt do it for me but it is an interesting movie. It's scary for a five year old, but once you reach the age of maybe twelve then it just isnt scary anymore.

The Exorcist, definitely.

Hey, Hannibalguy: Why are you ashamed to hate TROLL II? I've never heard anybody call this a good movie.

I hate "The Blair Witch Project". That movie was NOT scary and all it did was make me *Dizzy* and give me a headache with the camera shit.

Book of Shadows, a very ridiculous movie indeed. Actually I can't say I'm ashamed to admit that, everyone I know couldn't stand the movie.

Yeah,The Blair Witch Project really sucked. /ubb/mad.gif

Actually, Blair Witch isnt that original. Cannibal Holocaust (1979) had the same theme, where documentary makers go into the amazon, are never seen again, but leave behind video camera footage of what happened to them (only they were killed by Cannibals). So i guess that means Blair Witch sucks even more! Its not even original.

Halloween. By the time I saw this I had seen countless derivative slasher movies and as such it probably lost what power or value it had. I know, it's meant to be this classic an dhelped spark off the whole subgenre of slashers movies but it didn't do much for me. I don't know if I'd say I hated it but I was very disappointed.

I don't think BLAIR WITCH and CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST compare.

BLAIR WITCH was high on mood and suspense and it worked because we didn't really see anything at all. CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST showed us EVERYTHING, mostly shit you don't care about anyway ( like endless scenes of Cannibals Slaughtering and eating animals. Hey, I've got no problem with that but I couldn't care less about non-human Cannibal food in a movie called CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST ).
BLAIR WITCH intended to set your imagination in movement while CH just served you every detail on screen. BTW: The plot for Cannibal Holocaust is pretty silly. If you went to the amazon to study cannibals would you impale one of their woman on a big piece of wood and still think you get out alive?

Great, other people who didn't like "The Exorcist." I was expecting so much more from the movie, and it's not like I knew so much aboutit that it was ruined for me, it was just weak. Hearing all those stories about the bedlam it caused in theatres and viewers, I really expected something more. And besides the scares, some of the movie was just plain cheesy. For example, it seemed like Chris (Ellen Burstyn) seemed to come to the conclusion that her daughter was possessed with far too much ease. I know she was upset (she bursts into tears in practically every scene) but it was just strange how she came to admit it finally. It would have been better left unsaid. And am I the only one who had NO IDEA what the beginning of that movie was all about? Maybe one day I'll watch it again, give it a second try.

I was also really saddened to find that "Psycho's" second act, upon later viewings, really didn't hold up to the first. Marion's boyfriend and sister were paper-thin characters (I heard somewhere that is was implied that Lila was a lesbian--hmm, not enough character development for me) and the plot weakened a little after the shower scene. Sort of upsetting, considering how great the first forty-five minutes or so were.

In reference to the mixed reviews on "Halloween," ever wonder if it would still be as effective a film with a different musical score? In many ways, I doubt it.

I thought Psycho was a complete waste of time. The first half was okay, but the second half dragged on and sucked ass. Also Friday the 13th was the most overrated piece of shit I have ever had the misfortune of watching. Some of the sequels were okay, but that first one was a fucking piece of shit Halloween rip off with no suspense, a stupid twist at the end, and characters that were about as exciting as Larry King. All you Blair Witch haters shouldn't be ashamed, I know more people who hated it than liked it. Some people just can't see the beauty in such a well-done film. End rant.

I can't believe so many of you hate the Exorcist. That is one movie that actually scares me - very disturbing (oh well thats your opinion). Anyway, I really hated Rosmary's Baby. I also didn't care to much for Dawn of the Dead when I seen it a long time age. I'm going to give that one another try though.

Funny story attached to my hated film (well funny for me).
I was told by a group of good friends to meet at their place towatch a truly horrific horror film.
They said that it was just my style of film and I would love it.
The film was camp blood and I absoultly hated it.
After the film they looked at me with eye's awaiting my approval and asked what I thought of it.
I said "It looked like SLIPKNOT fucking around with a video camera".
Thier faces dropped and a heated argument insued I was not the most popular person that night I can tell you.

I never liked Rosemary's Baby. I can't sit through it...it's just tooo boring and it just drags and drags and drags. I also didn't like Suspiria the first time I saw it, but I think I'm gonna give it another try.

P.S. Just saw The Changeling, AWESOME MOVIE!!

Exorcist -because its not even scary, its more of a Hollywood drama type movie with just a girl with disturbing behavior. I didnt see this movie until a year or two ago and Im only 19, but I was expecting a classic from all the praise it got and I simply thought it sucked.
Friday the 13th -To me this movie was just a cheesy, crappy acting and directed piece of crap that tried to totally rip off of the great HalloweeN.
Psycho -It was decent in the first half, but it really didnt lead up to anything after that.
Evil Dead part 1 -Ive only seen the first one, and I know Ill get alot of crap for this but it was cool in sense of the blood and ghouls, but other than that the story wasnt convincing and there was no real plot for me it seemed.

I figured it out: The reason you all hate the Exorcist must be because you seen the edited version that they play on tv all the time. the uncut version (especially the stuff Raegan says and does) is very creepy to me.

I've never been ashamed of not liking a movie makes for some good discussions.
(or bands, don't get me started on that White Stripes concert I went to - ugh!)

Anyway, I couldn't stand Blair Witch I or II. Also I never really got into Exorcist or Amityville Horror flicks, even the Omen flicks didn't do much for me. I think I am just a slasher kind of guy.

I agree. If you ever want to see a certain horror movie DON'T WATCH THE TV EDITED VERSION!!! They cut the crucifix scene out and tons of other scenes that make the movie creepy. You should rent the Version You Never Seen, turn out the lights, turn the volume up loud, and you might change your opinion (but this is only my opinion)

I should clarify. By "critically acclaimed," I mean well-renowned by genre fans. Mainstream critics don't exist in my little world (with few exceptions).
