A deep thought from Crynot:
How many of you guys like to make movies? Everything from scriptwriting, to throwing it on a storyboard, to directing, to splicing it all together?
From the short time I've been posting on this board I've seen a lot of names out there. Mankato, Scarface, HomerSipmson, Silent Bob, and quite a few others. Most of you guys are probably 15 - 18 or so. I'm 22 and I'm burned out of talking about making a movie - I want to do it and probably going to do it. Remember Crynot and keep dreaming.
Independant films - who would have thought that everyone and their mom wants to make a movie.
Sorry - just a deep thought I felt needed to share.

Well I'm not that much younger than you Crynot, and I've got a passion that goes beyond just watching films.
I wrote, directed and produced a short movie when I was about 15 years old. Making movies is a lot of fun, but I'd prefer to leave the direction to the professionals. It takes a great deal of commitment and you should give it a try to see if you really want to do it. I had my taste of it and found it to be a lot of hard work. I'm happy just writing and doing a little acting.

Well, I'm going to make a movie soon with several of my friends. I wrote a script last year, and several people who read it at school really loved it, but I've decided to re-write it little, and that's what's holding it up. After I read it a few times, I decided it kind of sucked.
First off, there weren't enough scares. ( yes, it's a horror film, but it's not gonna be some stupid slasher flick!)
That, and I just killed everyone off waayy too fast.
I'm not going to tell any of you what the movie's going to be about. Someone out there might steal my idea and make take credit for it. That, and I'm not sure if anyone will think it's a good idea. I don't THINK it's been done in a movie before, which is probably why some of my friends think it's weird.
Anyway, if the movie sucks, then I'll tell.

My friends and I last year started to get into making movies. But when never had a full script, storyboard or special effects. We make 'em with a regular home video camera. We start out with a basic idea of a plot, make a script for the first few scences then make up the rest as we go along. All in all I have to say we have fun doing and we al laugh at how pathetic some of the movies turn out. Our most decent one is the Pear Witch Project. It is our first attempt at horror and we didn't do very well at all but it was funny. /ubb/biggrin.gif /ubb/smile.gif Good movie. I don't think we are really serious about it but I am now thinking about going into film making in College (which is a ways away).

Here is a very very good book for everyone who is interested in film making:
"Rebel without a crew" by Robert Rodriguez
It's definitely the best book about film making that I have ever read. And believe me, I have read a lot of book conserning the subject. It's a kind of book which gives you energy and belief in yourself. I'm 24 and I'm seriously getting into film business. Making my short films, music videos, commercials etc... This book is my bible. You should definitely check it out.

Hey guys, please answer Joblo's topic at "movie questions". It would be really cool if we could have a "making movies" directory at Joblo's message board.
