Why do so many people think TCM is gory? I mean the gore is all sugested,in your head. So why is this idiot who's planning the remake think TCM is gory?

Ya know what this reminds me of? The original Psycho, the famous shower scene.A LOT of people SWORE ona bible that they saw the knife penatrate Marion's body when it DIDN'T.

TCM is anything but gory. Like you said...its all suggested. I dont think anyone on this board thinks that TCM is gory but now for the general public...just the name sounds gory enough to them. So thats probably why so many people think its a gore fest...they assume just by the name.
But I have no idea why they are planing to make it gory..i think that would be a bad idea..although im still gonna see it.

Who said they saw the knife penetrate in Psycho? They must be crazy. You can clearly see (in some shots) that it just comes close...never goes in.

its just like from hell... people say from hell is overly gorey but its mainly suggested (cept fer that throught slash). its all up to the veiwer on how they want to judge the gore factor.

In TCM it's not the gore that gets you, it's the shock factor. Example:

When the girl gets *chunked* onto a meathook by Leatherface, that was a VERY shocking scene - it didn't need any blood & guts splashed around to make it any more frightening. But it's still considered a "gory" scene because of what happened to the girl afterward.

Someone's doing a re-make of TCM? How can you improve on perfection (asks the lifelong Tobe Hooper fan)???

As for the famous shower scene - Hitchcock actually shot several takes with Janet Leigh that apparently "show" the blade going into her body double's body, but they were edited out because the censors of the day would never have let the film pass. Some of this out-take footage has made it into the mainstream, but never into the completed film. Gus Van Sant tried to re-create what Hitch was aiming for in his Psycho re-make.

BB you answered your own question, its implied, Plus in TCM the kids really look genuinely scared to death. Like they really are going to be killed with a chainsaw. That is disturbing to watch...with or without gore.
