well?
it was back when i was little. i would go to the video store and just stare at this box that had a scary looking dude on it holding a chainsaw. i would ask my parents about it and they said its about a guy who chases after people and chops off their limbs. so naturally me and my 11 year old self picked it up and took it home. i watched it and loved it. this was my first horror movie experience. the rest is history.
how bout you?

I don't remember, but I didn't like it at first because of all the Thor forsaken screaming. It gets annoying, even still.

I saw it for the first time about 2 months ago. Now I'm trying to track down Leatherface: TCM 3

Sometime last month. I was browsing through my local video store and decided to check it out, so I rented it. It was pretty cool stuff.

When I was at school there was always some kid who claimed to have seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (it was banned until a few years ago in the UK). The story went that it was gory as hell and scary as fuck. Years later I ordered via a dealer that advertised in the small ads section of Dark Side magazine a video tape with TCM and an uncut Evilspeak on it. I sat down with a bunch of friends expecting 90 minutes of wall to wall gore. Instead what I got was 90 minutes of sheer terror that was only intensified by the 2nd generation picture quality of the copy. I was actually a little disappointed with regards to the lack of blood and guts because over the years the image of the movie as a gorefest had cemented itself in my mind. I've seen it a number of times since and have grown to love the movie for what it is. One of the most terrifying and intense horror movies in the history of the genre. 4/5

I also thought it was gonna be filled with a lot of gore! I thought I was gonna see humans hanging from spikes and a family sitting around eating humans, hehehe. I don't know why I pictured this, I just did. My cousin said that she stopped eating meat after watching this movie so I just HAD to finally see it. So I bought the special edition on DVD at Best Buy when I worked there cause it was cheap and there was a lot of extras on it. I was surprised that it was so good and freaky fun.

Saw it at a theatre back in 1982 during a rerelease with David Lynch's 'Eraserhead'.
Never been the same since....:O
A couple months ago on the Independent Film Channel (IFC). They showed it twice..once, just the regular movie; second, with Tobe Hooper doing a commentary. I got the best of both worlds. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/smile.gif

I belive it was back in 83 or 84. Don't remember if it was with my brother or a group of friends that use to come to my house every Fri/Sat for horror fests. I had seen so many clips of different scenes that when I did finally see it I wasn't shocked. But that was beside the point, I was blown away by it's direction, it's look, feel, starkness, and grit.
To quote AnnaMaria, a character in the 80's movie SUMMERSCHOOL: it's so...so AMERICAN.

That was great when they show a screening of TCM on that movie Summer School.
I saw it about a year or two ago when I was having a scary movie fest on a Friday the 13th and we watched it on IFC. It was more bizarre but it was still really good. The scariest part when my friend's mom ran in the room screaming with a toy chainsaw.

That reminds me of a funny fact. When Summer School came out in the UK years ago TCM was still banned in the UK. They cut all the footage of the kids watching TCM from the movie. Funny shite.

I think I will watch it again soon because of my recent visit to the Fangoria Weekend Of Horrors this past Saturday. I first watched it when I was twelve. Great Movie and I really loved what Gunnar Hansen said about TCM. He was on a pannel with others at the convention and Chas Balun ( gore score ) had asked what was the difference between 70's horror such as TCM and this trendy crap we have now such as scream? Gunnar said that that they did not do TCM for the money, they did it to make a name for themselves. What a great difference I couldnt have heard anyone say it better. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
