While reading through the new issue of PSM (PlayStation Magazine) there was an article about old video games being remade on the next gen systems. They had a little side column about games they WANT to be remade. One of these was Splatterhouse, which is kind of a Friday the 13th Vs. Evil Dead sort of game. I remember this game as being one of my favorites when I was younger, and then also remembered that they WERE working on a movie based on this game. I was wondering if anyone knows if they ever did, or still are. This game has the potential to be a great series of movies (in the B set, that is). Any thoughts?

Oh, and for those of you who were wondering what the premise was, well, here it is: A guy and his girlfriend are on vacation in the woods. Demons kidnap his girlfriend, and donning a hockey mask and using various weapons such as chainsaws and 2x4s, he sets out to rescue her. He also goes a demonic and gets really strong from time to time. It's been a while since I played this game, or even thought about it (until i read the article) so i can't remember it all. So? Thoughts?

As far as I can tell, they're no longer making the Splatterhouse movie, which sucks because the game fucking ruled. Gory as hell, and, apart from Mortal Kombat, probably one of the goriest games on the Megadrive (or Sega Genesis, for you USA'ers).

I never played Splatterhouse on Sega, but i did play Zombies Ate My Neighbors. It's cool..i wish they'd make sequels on PS2 and X-Box for it. Just out of curiosity...was Splatterhouse an arcade game in gamerooms, or poolhalls by any chance? Seems i played a zombie game in a video arcade awhile back. I remember it being like $.50, or $.75 for each game. LOL

Here in the states it was released on NEC's Turbo-Grafx 16. I owned a Sega Genesis at the time and only wished that I could've played it.

Well, wish no more!

http://www.emusanet.com/

Go to Emulators (at the green bar at the top of the screen), then Console, then Sega Genesis, then download either Genecyst or KGen 98. You've now got your program to run it.

Now go to ROMs (again, from the green bar at the top) and a pop-up thing will appear letting you browse its ROMs (games, if you don't know). Click on Console, then Sega Senesis/32x, then theletter S (right at the very top of the window, and then page 12, to find all the different versions of Splatterhouse 2 and 3.

Once you've got both emulator and ROM(s), then you run the emulator and open the ROMs to play the games.

Of course this is all very legal <cough>not<cough>.

Playing these games again would almost be worth the risk..lol! I hope we either get a movie or a remake of the game.

just curious...is it really <cough>not<cough> legal?

Yes, it's legal, <cough>not<cough>.

Because they can still technically be sold in shops, even though nobody would really pay much for a MegaDrive / Genesis game any more, it's considered piracy.

As the machine gets older, the companies care less.

There are hardly any N64 games kicking about on the net, quite a lot of SNES games, and thousands of NES games.
