ok ok I know the rumours for a silent hill movie were fake. However that does not change the fact that it would make a great movie (if done right) and I for one want to see it happen. The amount of excited people there were at the news of the "film adaptation" should give new line cinema or someone a hint as to how popular it would be. As long as they go for scary and not trendy. Oh what am i babbling on about it aint gonna happen.

Well, the first Silent Hill game is about a man named Harry Mason, who is a single father to Cheryl. They both are heading to the town of Silent Hill for a vacation. Keep in mind that this was to be a busy town with many things to do. While driving, a mysterious girl walks out in the road, Harry quickly swerves to miss her, and does, but they wreck. When Harry comes to, he looks over to see that his Cheryl is gone. The passenger door open, and no trace of her. Harry must then search Silent Hill to find her. He walks into an empty, deserted, very eerie town. It was snowing out of season, and it quickly changed from day, to night, and vice-versa. He faces monsters, a giant worm which later becomes a giant moth. knife-wielding demon babies, flying teradactyls(check spelling), and other evil beings. He must search through the elementary school, a hospital, sewer, amusement park, and other places. When it's all said and done, he must confront an evil woman named Dahlia Gillespie, whom at the beginning of the game, pretends to be helping you out. The story gets very complex, and it's hard to explain. Dahlia is like a satanist chick, and Cheryl was kidnapped, because apparently she was born in Silent Hill. She was Harry's adopted child. Cheryl was a clone to Alyssa, Dahlia's daughter. To make a long story short, she needs both girls to awaken a demon that is inside Alyssa. It comes out, and Harry must defeat it. Just rent the game, and see for yourself, because it's kinda hard to explain it with typing it lol. As for Silent Hill 2 on PS2, same town, new male character named James who receives a letter from his wife, who had been dead like 2 years. It said for him to come to Silent Hill. He goes in search for answers. It would be cool to base a movie on either storyline, but i prefer the original. I know my Silent Hill, spent many a day, and night, trying to beat the game. LOL

They should make a movie on Silent Hill II! It was so much scarier!! (Although 1 was scary as hell!)

I would love to see a Silent Hill movie but I hate it when you get let down. You love the games so much that you have a high expectation of what you picture the movie to be like and sometimes you get disappointed.
If they could capture the foggy creepy feel of the game then right on(like when it switches to nightmare world or the radio making the static noises when a monster is near by)

Silent Hill is the only computer game i've ever come close to switching off because it was unnerving me to a degree I never thought possible. Walking around the deserted, unlit school and hearing the sounds of babies crying in the darkness was eerie beyond belief. Scary stuff. I'm not really fond of game to movie translations.

You should try Silent Hill 2!
**Minimal Spoilers Ahead**
There is a part where you are in an underground prison, all rusted and beaten up...equally unlit, (But damn, it looks good!) and you here children weeping, manings and you hear as if someone was getting killed! later to a misterious, surrealistic laberynth splattered in blood and you know what kind of stuff!

Spidey, that does sound off the chains, i wanna play it, but there's only one problem. I don't have a PS2! lol I have a PS1(the original flat version, not the new round fat version..i hate them damn things lol). But with the price dropping, i must invest in one. Or, i may get an X-Box..which system would you guys recommend? Silent Hill 2 is on both systems.

Actually, the second one had a way better story. It played up more on the fact that Silent Hill is basically (in theory) Hell. This is really shown towards the end of 2. What I didn't like about 1 was that they tried explaining Silent Hill as being the bi-product of some cult. This is definetly one horror item that SHOULD NOT be explained. It would make it far creepier. And Bring on the coming soon Silent Hill 3. That being said...
MAKE THIS DAMN MOVIE. It works in the same guise as Jacob's Ladder and has a kind of The Talisman/Black House feel to it. IMO!

I agree - that game freaked the bejesus out of me, much more than the Resident Evil games ever did.
I wish they could recreate the tension you get from playing Silent Hill in a movie, but video games adapted into movies are almost always dreadful. If they leave it alone but continue churning out nightmarish game sequels, I'm totally fine with that.

There have been constant rumors, as there have been with most things, but nothing has been officially confirmed yet. So as of now, no.

The game is indeed freaky, and scary.
If you have the Playstation 1, you can always
get the first game for that system.
While the PS2 is a good system,
Silent Hill 2 for the X-box, has some
extra goodies, but to the best of my
recollection, I can't recall what they are.
Either way, they are both good games.
As for a movie, I would love to see one
made, but like the rest of you, I hope
it doesn't get screwed up in the
transition from game to celluloid.

The game for the X-Box is called "Restless Dreams: Silent Hill 2" (lOVE THE TITLE)
tha extras are a sub-scenario (About 6 hours long) that is called "Born From A Wish", which lets you play as Maria, not James.

To add a personal note to this: I played through this game a few months back. Loved it way better that the first (which I loved alot!). And those who played through Silent Hill 2 will get where I am going with this...as I stated in a previous post in the GENERAL HORROR forum, my girlfriend and I went on vacation this week to Mackinaw Island, Michigan. The hotel we stayed in was THE LAKEVIEW. Imagine my nerves while we were there! LOL!

Really?! damn cool...for those of you who still have doubts on how cool/scary the game's plot is here's a little cap (U will be warned if there are spoilers):
Silent Hill 2: A letter from heaven??
James Sunderland is an ordinary man whose life is shattered when his young wife, Mary dies of a horrible disease.
He managed to live in a lonely life until one day, three years later, a letter arrives:
"In my retless dreams,
I see that town, Silent Hill.
You promised you would take me there again someday,
but you never did, now I am waiting for you there,
In our special place, alone, waiting for you
-Mary"
It was definetly Mary's handwriting and signature! This drew James back to their sanctuary of memories, to their "special place"
Upon arriving to Silent Hill, James meets a woman called Angela Orosco, (Who was also drawn to Silent Hill somehow) and realizes that it is desolated, and must make his way to the "Rosewater Park", what he remembered was their "Special Place", he must go through the "Blue Creek apartments", where he will find a huge enemy called "Pyramid Head" and where he finds Eddie, a young and dumb dude who was (also) "drawn" to Silent Hill...
**Moderate spoilers ahead**
Later, in the streets leading to the park, James meets Laura, a bratty girl who is just walking alone in the town...
In the park, James finds another person...Mary!?...No...Maria, a woman, IDENTICAL to Mary, who claims to be "Maria".
She follows James to a bowlong hall, where they see Laura run off somewere, To the Brookhaven Hospital, that is!
**HUGE SPOILERS AHERAD!!**
In the hospital, Maria gets lost and there's no signs of Laura, but there's problems: Maria is coughing (Could SHE have the same illness as Mary?)...Then, the hospital "changes" to the rusted bloody world we all love...James later finds Maria (Who was lost) and proceeds to follow him.
In the exit hallway, Pyramid head attacks SPOILER!!!!!!! and kills Maria...James is alone...
**Big Spoilers ahead**
Then, James goes underground, to a prison...rusted, beaten up...later to a surrealistic Laberynth, where he finds Maria in a cell..alive!! When he gets to the other side of the cell, to release her, he finds her dead...her face has suffered massive trauma!
He feels sad and leaves the laberynth through the docks...notbefore fighting Eddie to death!(Guess who wins) THIS IS HELL!
Later, James heads to the final place: "The Lakeview hotel", their REAL special place.
**THIS IS WHERE THE MASSIVE SPOILERS BEGIN!! WATCH OUT!!!**
James gets there and finds Laura, who hands him a letter mary wrote before dying...THREE WEKS AGO!!?
Proceeds to room 312, where he stayed mith Mary last time, she is not there...but their tape is...he pops it in...and discovers the biggest twist in the game **DONT GO ANY FURTHER!!!!!** Mary was not killed by the illness, James did the job for it!...maybe he loved her and couldnt see her suffer..or maybe he hated her for ruining his life!
James realized that Silent Hill is just like Hell, where you go and pay for your wrong deeds (He, Eddie and Angela were drawn there...why? read my SH2 plot guide, somewhere in the old posts)
The endings will be explained in my SH2 plot guide.
SEE WHY THIS GAME IS INCREDIBELY SCARY!?...my favorite...

I think I have found some ideal directors to pull a movie version off. They are the pang brothers and they were responsible for "the eye" (the most scariest film i have seen in a long while) I think they could do well with this project. Ne other commnets?

I do like the idea of schmoes cobbling a script together Spidey, and I enjoy writing creatively in my free time, however, the only pratfall is that the Story might become convoluted, should there be multiple authors.
Regardless, If you are serious Spidey, Where should we send our contributions? Perhaps to an email address or a different thread on these boards? Also will you edit the tale?

I haven't read much of this thread coz I don't wanna risk spotting a spoiler. I've been playing both the 1st and 2nd ones at the same time and as much as I love them both I found the first one slightly creepier and overall a bit better.
I'm playing the 2nd one first. Can someone clarify and please don't post a spoiler, that the two games are unconnected storywise as they seem to be. I don't wanna ruin the 1st one by playing the 2nd one first.
Also does the game have multiple endings or just one?
And are they already making a 3rd one?
Cheers. Thanks.

I own both Silent Hill 1&2 and plan on getting part 3 next month. Obviously I love the games, but I don't want a movie to be made. I just can't see it being done properly. I'd rather have no SH movie than a bad SH movie.

1. No connection storyline wise, Just the same setting.
2. Both games have multiple endings if i'm not mistaken.
3. Yes, they are making a 3rd and it looks awesome so far. Hope that helps.
